The ryokan provides a hot spring bath and a housekeeping service. This place! I cannot describe how amazing the room with private onsen is. Super spacious and comfortable, with a stunning view to the mountains. Breakfast and dinner were delicious (buffet style), enough vegetarian options. There's a free drink bar available for the afternoon/evening hours as well. I didn't use the public bath because they don't allow visible tattoo's though.

Even with strong winds and horizontal rain, the outlook was mesmerising, and when the sun came out, it was great to step outside for a leisurely stroll along the waterfront. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Nikaho - a great base for exploring (with a car) attractions in Tsuruoka and Sakata as well as views and waterfalls around beautiful Mt Chokai.

The owner of the property is very nice too, he recommended to join the festival to see the Akita Lantern Festival

The location is great, close to Lake Tazawa. During our stay the weather was grey and rainy, but the house felt really cosy and warm. Especially after the great meal the owners cooked and a lovely soak in the onsen. 10/10 recommend!

Guests also enjoy access to the sauna and hot spring bath, as well as the public bath and open-air bath. food was excellent with local specialties. staff did their best to translate and explain in english. free midnight ramen was a nice surprise. be sure to organize shuttle service from yuzawa in advance and be aware that currently many connections to the south and west are restricted due to heavy rain damage.

It was the perfect blend of authenticity and convenience. The fridge was thoughtfully stocked with food, which made settling in even easier. What truly set this place apart, however, was the outstanding hospitality. Koha-san, the host, went above and beyond in every way. Not only was the house spotlessly cleaned every day, but Koha-san also offered incredibly generous support throughout my stay. He drove me to the Catholic Church so I could attend Mass, took me to visit the beautiful shrine of Our Lady of Akita, Seitai Hoshikai brought me to the relaxing Akita Onsen Plaza, and even dropped me off at Akita Station—all free of charge. He also gave excellent suggestions for the best Hanami spots, ensuring I experienced the cherry blossoms at their finest. His kindness and dedication made my visit truly unforgettable. I highly recommend AnBeeNa guest house to anyone visiting Akita. Whether you’re looking for peace, culture, or comfort, this place offers it all.
