The ryokan provides a hot spring bath and a housekeeping service. This place! I cannot describe how amazing the room with private onsen is. Super spacious and comfortable, with a stunning view to the mountains. Breakfast and dinner were delicious (buffet style), enough vegetarian options. There's a free drink bar available for the afternoon/evening hours as well. I didn't use the public bath because they don't allow visible tattoo's though.

This perfect coastal location is well-matched with a lovely, roomy house full of all the modern amenities needed for a comfortable stay. Even with strong winds and horizontal rain, the outlook was mesmerising, and when the sun came out, it was great to step outside for a leisurely stroll along the waterfront. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Nikaho - a great base for exploring (with a car) attractions in Tsuruoka and Sakata as well as views and waterfalls around beautiful Mt Chokai.

Visited Akita for the Kanto Festival in Akita city. It is about 1 hour drive but was no stress. The town of Misato is famous for spring water and amazing sake.

The house was clean and comfortable, the host was also friendly and nice. We enjoyed our stay and would come again by car!

Providing free WiFi throughout the property, the allergy-free holiday home features a hot spring bath. This is one of the best places we have stayed in our many trips to Japan. The house itself is extremely inviting and comfortable, with heating/cooling options and all facilities, a wonderful outlook, and it exhudes peace and serenity. The private onsen is superb, and all rooms are spacious. The meals were meticulously prepared and presented by our charming and friendly hosts. The area is a great place year round. We explored the lake area, towns to the south, and the wonderful mountain areas to the north. All appliances and facilities had clear and concise instructions in many languages, and Tatsuya was proactive and quick to respond at all times.

Guests also enjoy access to the sauna and hot spring bath, as well as the public bath and open-air bath. Top-tier luxury. This place is what you get when you give someone a very generous budget and ask them to dream up the most comfortable Ryokan they can think of. The whole place was in tatami mats and it was comfortable to walk about barefoot or with socks. The baths themselves were the best out of all the ryokans that I have tried. They offered a range of different shampoos and soaps, and multiple indoor and outdoor baths - ranging from stone/natural baths to wooden tubs. There is also a sauna and cold bath, and it is here that I discovered the adrenaline rush and relaxation that comes with alternating between a hot sauna and cold bath. There are also privates baths (yes there are two!) that are free for use, unlike other ryokans that charge you for them. There are free treats everywhere - ice pops and milk (my favourite!) at the baths, various snacks and drinks (coffee, various teas, vinegar drink and even beer and shochu!). Then at 10-10.30pm, you can get a bowl of ramen, with the Akita specialty: Fish Shottsuru. Best, most premium and complete bath amenities out of all the ryokans I have visited. They also have well-placed cold water dispenser and places where you can simply sit after your bath to enjoy the view. They also offer a "pillow library" where you can personally compare different types of pillows and choose the ones that you like best! Best facilities out of all the ryokans I've been to (perhaps to make up for the lack of things to do by way of local attractions and how isolated it is). There are traditional Japanese children's games, origami and even a quaint library. Layout of the room is great too - I like that there is a separate "reception" area where you can keep your bags and clothes separate from the main sleeping/living quarters. I also like the little table in front of the window - perfect for a quiet reflection.

A Perfect Stay in Akita – A True Japanese Home Experience I had an absolutely wonderful and restful time at this guest house in Akita. From the moment I arrived, I was impressed by the comfort and excellent facilities. The accommodation offered a true taste of a traditional Japanese home, with a ground floor room featuring a cozy tatami mattress, a dining area, a fully equipped kitchen, and a private bathroom and shower—all exclusively for my use. It was the perfect blend of authenticity and convenience. The fridge was thoughtfully stocked with food, which made settling in even easier. What truly set this place apart, however, was the outstanding hospitality. Koha-san, the host, went above and beyond in every way. Not only was the house spotlessly cleaned every day, but Koha-san also offered incredibly generous support throughout my stay. He drove me to the Catholic Church so I could attend Mass, took me to visit the beautiful shrine of Our Lady of Akita, Seitai Hoshikai brought me to the relaxing Akita Onsen Plaza, and even dropped me off at Akita Station—all free of charge. He also gave excellent suggestions for the best Hanami spots, ensuring I experienced the cherry blossoms at their finest. His kindness and dedication made my visit truly unforgettable. I highly recommend AnBeeNa guest house to anyone visiting Akita. Whether you’re looking for peace, culture, or comfort, this place offers it all.
