Holiday Rentals in Karatu

Emmanuel ( son of John) and Lucy are fabulous hosts, the Accomodation was really comfortable, they are both really friendly and helpful, and gave us great advice. Lucy’s food is the best we’ve had in Tanzania. Emmanuel is super cool and knowledgeable and has built the homestead himself with his late father John. There are banana, coffee, avocado and mango growing in the garden and we had a lovely view from the bar in the evening of sun setting over the mountain. The Accomodation is really near ngorogoro crater, and after a long day on safari we came home to Lucy’s home cooking. Even the beans we had for breakfast were grown here. It’s also really safe and quiet at night apart from the sounds of the wildlife and farm animals near by. Wonderful!

We enjoyed our stay at this very quiet and comfortable place very much and even extanded it for some days. Perfect for day trips to lake manyara and ngorongoro national parks. Staff is very helpful and even arranged a laundry service for us.

Stunning, amazing staff and wonderful service

we did not know what to expect as mwi village does not had a lot of reviews. We booked anyway and did not regret it. Later on we discovered that the reason that there were not a lot of reviews (yet) is because he only startrd the accommodation 2 years ago and its not on tripadvisor or facebook yet to have more visibility. Our stay was above our expectations. The accommodation consists of different houses, which are spacious and have a big bathroom. Mr Mwi has a lot of animals which made it even more special. He has built everything himself (over 12 years) and we admire what he did and accomplished. He is super kind, funny and also interested in you as a person. We only stayed 2 nights and regretted that we could not stay 1 night more. There is a very kind girl who makes breakfast and dinner on request. We could choose what we wanted to eat, which was great and much appreciated. In the evening we just stayed with mr mwi, had dinner on the terrace while watching the sunset and the stars. Mr mwi also helped us with some excursions. We went with him to an authentic masaai village close to the accommodation, which was great as he knew the real price (only pay per car) and he protected us from the crazy expensive tourist prices. He can also arrange other excursions such as biking around lake manyara at a very good price. so just tell him what you would like to do and he will arrange it for you. Spacious house in a great location for visiting several national parks. The facilities are basic but provide everything you need to self-cater with friendly assistance from the host who lives next door. They can arrange to do your washing or have meals cooked for you if required. All in all highly recommended for families or groups travelling independently and looking for authentic, value-for-money accommodation with plenty of outside space.
