Holiday Rentals in Yala

What an incredible stay! The room was really clean, and the breakfast and dinner were absolutely delicious. The highlight of our stay was the safari organized by the host. My friend fell ill, so it was a delightful surprise that the host accompanied me on the safari. The host's extensive knowledge of birds was truly remarkable, and I learned so much about the fascinating birdlife in Yala. This was one of the most unforgettable experiences during our stay in Sri Lanka. Thank you!

This is a gorgeous place, hidden deep in the lush forested boundary area surrounding Yala National Park. Just to get here is an adventure: you rendezvous with their safari jeep at the end of the paved road, from where you ride with elevated excitement along bumpy dirt tracks through 'the jungle' and rural farmland into the hidden oasis that is Tribe Yala's glamorous tented area. You're looked after by a smiling and humble manager, educated in England, who exudes skillfull customer service with his efficient possy of staff at every turn. The tents are wonderfully large and so comfortable. Showers always hot. Wi-fi always on - in the middle of nowhere! Love it. You're in the wild, so you are always joined by nature here - be they spirited songful birds, skulking monitor lizards, croaking frogs, marching millipedes et al - they all come to say Hi. The evening meals were fabulous - some of the best food I ate in Sri Lanka, and the breakfasts in the treehouse were wonderful. Yala Park was closed at the time of our visit because of storm flooding, so we couldn't do the full safari we had hoped for, but instead the amazing manager proactively arranged for us to visit a fantastic nearby Buddhist Monastery, it's 'twin temples' perched high above the canopy on giant natural rock alters, affording amazing views. The journey there and back was a safari in it's own right: amazing bird life and mammals all around! And because of the storm cancellation, this adventure was provided free of charge. If we ever return to Sri Lanka, we will most surely return to Tribe Yala.

Breakfast was amazing. Everything was fresh with only selected organic and regional products. Hansa was an amazing Host, very easy to communicate and good vibes. You can easily get lost in a long conversation with him at sunset. He is an amazing cook. He learned everything from his wife and it was hands down the best food we had the whole trip and we had pretty amazing food overall. Let him cook you his vegetarian rice & Curry trust me!

Loved the location, freedom, peace and service by the staff Mr. Fahim and his assistant. They never said no to any of our requests and arranged everything well beforehand. Loved the feeling of being in a kind of safari game lodge.

Priyantha and his family gave us an experience we will never forget.The family was extremely friendly and hospitable and Priyantha and his son,Hansa,went above and beyond with their care for us. Communication after booking was excellent. As the location is off the main road and up a challenging but fun dirt track we were met at Yoda lake and followed Hansa to the accommodation,which is located 10 yards from the perimeter of Yala National park. As we were driving our rented Tuktuk,Priyantha and Hansa kindly drove us back to the local town and main roads at the end of our stay. We stayed 4 nights in an authentic mud house which is set in a wonderfully designed woodland setting.Rooms are very private,extremely peaceful and away from all the tourists. Priyantha provided plenty of excellent healthy food as and when you wanted it,you will not go hungry here.A fire was set for us to sit round every evening with the host providing authentic live music after dinner.Three of the healthiest and friendliest dogs belong to the family and will gladly lead you on the many walks available from the property. We saw an abundance of wildlife on the local walks,monkeys,deer,eagles,crocodiles to name but a few.Priyantha kindly took us traditional rod fishing,net fishing,to a secret beach where we were the only two people and were lucky enough to see an elephant very close to the beach in addition to a visit to a local monastery and local temple which had a unique twist.A full day safari tour was also organised by Priyantha with his very experienced and friendly driver,at a very reasonable price.We simply cannot recommend Yala wild house and farm high enough if your willing to embrace an experience never to be forgotten. Thank you Priyantha,Hansa,Loki,driver and family,you all went above and beyond to provide us with the most amazing experience.

The safari was, without a doubt, the highlight of our stay in Sri Lanka and the absolute best way to experience Yala National Park. Our guide, Pramoth, was exceptional—his deep knowledge of the wildlife and his incredible ability to spot all the animals we had hoped to see (and even more!) made the adventure truly special. What set him apart was how he managed to make the experience memorable even after the safari itself, sharing stories and insights that enriched our understanding. A special shoutout to our driver, Chaminda, who was nothing short of a jungle pilot, skillfully navigating the rugged terrain with ease and adding to the thrill. I cannot recommend this experience enough—it’s a must for anyone visiting Sri Lanka!
