The place was amazing. Well equipped and clean. The kitchen was fully equipped, better than my own kitchen at home and had a mashing machine/ dryer we could use to do the laundry. The host was super sweet, showed us around and taught us to use the fire place.

Our stay at this incredible Japanese house was nothing short of a dream. This beautifully renovated traditional home, built by the owner's ancestors probably 150 years ago and renovated thoughtfully and lovingly by the owner recently. It offers lovely gardens and breathtaking views of Mount Aso and is meticulously maintained to the highest standards. Each room exudes the charm and character of a traditional Japanese palace, while also providing all modern amenities.The onsen is an indulgent treat, and the professional kitchen, sound and home cinema systems, barbecue house, and karaoke house added to the exceptional experience. We opted for the barbecue on two of our three nights, and the food was world-class, prepared with love and care by the owner, his wife, and the property manager.We felt like we were in a dream and wished we could have stayed much longer. Highly recommended for an unforgettable stay! Yoshio, Sumie, and Yuji you are the best!

The host was exceptionally kind and supportive in helping guests plan their travels and is invested in maintaining and rebuilding the culture of the area. I didn’t have a car and he drove me to the station multiple times and went above and beyond to make sure I found where I was going. The accommodations were clean, modern, and comfortable.

We had an incredible time staying here, and Fumika was the most wonderful host. It’s a gorgeous building with stunning architecture, beautiful views over the mountain, with a great shared living space as well as very tasteful bedrooms - I would say that it is perfect for a family. The wood fired stove in the living room is nice and toasty, and the breakfasts that Fumika makes are legendary - you won’t go hungry. Also, do ask her for recommendations on food as well as things to do in the local area - we went to two recommendations for dinner and both were delicious. We wish we could spend more time in Aso and in this beautiful house, so we will be back!
