The hosts are very lovely. They have bbq facility on site (1500 yen fee) which I highly recommend! It’s nice to have outdoor bbq. However, keep in mind that you will need to bring your own ingredients. To access this accomodation you will require a car as it is a bit far from the downtown.

The house is gorgeous, clean, and thoughtfully designed. The owner's attention to detail and warm hospitality made our stay truly memorable. Everything. Keiko San and his wife are very kind and friendly hosts, the food they prepare is delicious, the property is delightfully characterful with private onsen facilities, and in a magical forest setting looking on to its own waterfall. Keiko San very kindly picked us up from Nagiso station (and dropped us back there when we left), and took us to Magome and back from Tsumago on the day we walked the Nakasendo trail. He and his wife are great hosts.

Hotel Fuki no Mori is a 20-minute ride from JR Nagiso Train Station on the hotel’s free shuttle. Guests can enjoy walks at the garden or the scenic areas surrounding the hotel.

Just one word to describe our stay: PHENOMENAL! The staff, the room, the hotel, its location, their onsens, the food. Everything was perfect and beyond our imagination! Our room was so big and comfy and clean, we even had a massage chair and also hot-air syringe. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They also had one person who could speak English pretty well. It was raining when we arrived and this went perfect with the hot onsens. We also booked the private onsen beforehand, but I personally liked the outdoor onsen more. You also have your own dining room with traditional Japanese food. The dinner has a very economic price for what you get (a seven-course menu). They also took into account that we are pescetarian. You also have the opportunity to use their shuttle service, which was very punctual and convenient. My husband was fasting, so he had to have his breakfast before sunrise. They even brought his breakfast to the room!

Located within 14 km of Muku Hatoju Memorial Museum and 21 km of Achi Shrine, Fudouonsen Sawaya provides rooms with air conditioning and a private bathroom in Shimojo mura.

It is a wonderful Onsen hotel in the heart of Nagano. The people working there a wonderful, helpful, the politeness is beyond every standard, even for Japan. Thank you very much for the wonderful time we had, the high level breakfast and dinner, perfect support of the staff, and the Relaxing and quiet Rooms with the outside private onsen.

Room spacious and well-equipped. The beautiful garden view was soothing and refreshing. The gentleman at the reception was very helpful and polite. He tried his very best to answer our every question and helped arranging our stargazing night tour efficiently. Breakfast was good.
