I could write a novel about the excellence of Sanso Tensui and it's staff. From the moment we arrived at the train station and were welcomed, to seeing the property and being awe struck, to checking in and seeing our room, and everything in between, we were absolutely in love with Sanso Tensui and glad we decided to stay here. The onsen (private and public) are incredible. Many are near waterfalls or are immersed in nature. I spent many hours in the baths, or reading on the patio surrounded by nature. Every staff member was incredibly welcoming and helpful. The food was incredible, not just in taste but in presentation. I honestly am so overwhelmed with how incredible it was that I don't even know what else to write. All I can say, I wish I could stay there forever. It was the perfect way to relax, unwind and refresh my brain. I can't wait to come back.

The house is very spacious and clean, each rooms are beautifully decorated and the ambience and vibe was just amazing. There is alot of thought and story built into the decoration around the house. Even the cups provide have a little backstory of the host. The facilities provided are ample for our stay. Check-in is easy and fast, we arrived earlier than the appointed check-in time but is able to check into our rooms immediately after some simple documenting procedures. The host is very responsive and helpful, he helped us to book a taxi to bring us to the Attack on Titan museum at Oyama and even recommended us some tours that may interest us. There are travelling guides and magazine to explore Hita, and there is also a self made restaurant guide provide as well from the host. The place is located at the shopping streets, and there are a lot of restaurants within walking distances. Sadly many shops were closed on the day we were there :(

The owner, who is very friendly, as is all staff actually. In the middle of the charming old town of Hita, a relatively unknown gem. Make sure to book dinner, which is served in an adjacent restaurant, which belongs to the hotel. Amazing standard of cooking, Japanese with some international influences. The breakfast, served in the hotel, is Japanese and excellent as well. Our room had a private bath and shower. On top of that, there are two Onsen in the hotel as well, who can be reserved for private use by the hotel guests. Free parking right in front of the hotel.

Good onsen hotel. Rooms are nice and comfortable. Public onsen is big and has indoor and outdoor. Breakfast is amazing! You can experience many Japanese menu and they are all delicious. They gave us 2 bottles of tea (per 1 person) as a souvenir!

From the moment we arrived the staff were exceptional, from parking our car to being offered a time to use the private onsen, nothing was missing, the room was perfect with an area with a sofa to sit by the windows and look at the amazing view over the lake.

Just amazing! So many beautiful details everywhere on the property and the rooms like ikebana, face mask, private dining room for everyone, all electricity outlets covered with different prints, unique furniture..So much love and thought was put into everything. The staff and the owner went the extra mile eg special drop off time, adjusted breakfast time just for me..The breakfast and dinner were out of this world delicious.

- The room was huge. All inclusive. My room had the bathtub. River view was also nice. - The breakfast and dinner were delicious. We can see that they made a lot of effort in detail. - The hotel offers 6 onsen baths (4 inside the hotel; 2 outside which you need to walk down the stairs). - Staff were super friendly.
