The owners were exceptional. They could not have been more attentive hosts. The location is wonderful, fronting on to a backwater leading to the lake. Its a tranquil spot, perfect for bird and boat watching. Traditional Keralan Breakfast with a few additions like toast and omelette and coffees were delivered to the seating area in front of each room.

Our stay here was amazing! The family who owns it is so kind and hospitable. Everything is really fairly priced and the food was so delicious and healthy. The area is also really nice and cute, a really good place to wind down. Would definitely visit again if we’re nearby😊

Incredible stay with Jes and his team. They went above and beyond to make sure our stay was comfortable and that we were well looked after. The tours they offer are unforgettable (Toddy shop tour and sunrise boat tour are a must) and really let you experience the true local culture and beauty of Kumarakom and its backwaters. We were treated to some of the best food we had in Kerala, Jesvanth is an amazing chef and is very open to sharing his knowledge of the local cuisine and his own learnings. Thoroughly recommend Little Chembaka to anyone looking for a proper taste of local culture and some truly unforgettable experiences.

I spent a very relaxing two nights on the houseboat, spending the first day travelling south and spending the night next to the rice paddy islands, then the second day returning along the other coastline. The food was consistently fantastic, with absolutely massive portions 😅

Breakfast was typical of the region,so to the western palate was a bit strange but we soon got to like it. It was followed by Marsala omlette which was great. The chef Amal was always on hand to make lemon sodas or fresh orange juice which he did frequently as it was so hot Vaikash the manager was very helpful , even to the extent of filming the route into the village so we wouldn’t get lost The Heritage hotel is set down a side street and as soon as we were through the gate we left the sounds of people and traffic behind us It is a bit remote but for us that was the attraction. The village was a ten minute walk and the lake shore was a short Tuk Tuk ride away All four members of the staff went out of their way to make our stay as pleasant as possible The pool was well maintained and was a godsend in the hot weather We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will make a point of returning

Fabulous stay. Divya, her family, and staff are welcoming and foster a home-like environment. We had engaging conversations and shared stories. The rooms are clean and well-kept. The homestay is located near a quiet rural road that runs alongside a canal and passes through villages and rice fields. We took a pleasant 3-hour walk from the homestay to the main lake, along the canal, where we saw different birds and interacted with villagers.

Cruising on the Grand Villa houseboat for two nights was a wonderfully unforgettable experience. The staff were top notch, and the chef was 5 star. He would be at home working in any Michelin Star restaurant. The ride on the waters was very smooth and serene. I'm already looking at dates to book again.
