I have never felt so welcome in my life in a hotel. Adi, Coco, Sarah, Santa, Ellie, and everyone else. You are all amazing people. The amount of work you put in the Cheeky Monkeys and all this while wearing the biggest smile and showing the kindest heart is not to explain in words, only in experience. Location: The Guesthouse is situated in the beautiful rainforest. You will love it if you like it quiet. It’s a bit off-grid, but that’s exactly ehat we wished for. 45min walk to the Bat Cave is absolutely worth it. Staff: The owner speaks perfect English and all staff speaks sufficient English. They are very kind and helpful. If you need anything, they will help. Food: The food and their fruit juices are delicious. You can eat anytime you want! Price: They probably have the fairest price in town. Other places rip you off. Tipp: Bring enough cash, otherwise there’s an ATM about 20mins drive away. Also, we didn’t volunteer but we‘ve heard from other guests that it is a great experience to volunteer at the local school (you can even do just one day)! Don’t forget to give tips to the staff!

Beautiful secluded place, surrounded by nature. It takes 30-45 minutes to hike there from the edge of town, walking next to the river. It's a really nice hike, but it can be challenging with luggage or in rainy days. Great view of the national park from the balcony, we got to see some gibbons, and plenty of monkeys. You can also hike in their private land, though there's no clear paths since they are likely not walked often. Yanta is a great host, and cooked us some tasty food. They also organised a jungle trek for us, and we had a lot of fun with Edi and Rama. .

Nice room, comfortable bed, i only booked one night before trekking, arrived very late at 12pm. i booked the trip and car transfer through this accomodation, everything was organized no prepayment. I could pay for trek with card in the place, though it was with 4% commission .

We loved everything about this homestay. Asniar is so extremely accommodating and looked after everything from airport pickup to our jungle trek (at such a great price!). The guide Dolak was fantastic and Oleb and Emer who work at the property are so patient and kind always playing with our 4 year old and cooking us the most delicious food. The homestay is comfortable and spacious with two beds, a basic kitchen + utensils (no fridge but you could ask to use the communal fridge), many fans, WiFi, and delicious breakfast (with options) included. There is no hot water but this is welcomed as it can be hot during the day. Dinner and lunch options are also available for a great (additional) price. Some delicious options with plenty of vegetarian friendly dishes also. There is also access to washing machine so you can clean clothes post hike. This is so helpful for families! It's about a 25min walk to the main Bukit Lawang town but the walk is fabulous; straight up the canal and through the village where we got to meet many friendly families. You can also arrange a tuktuk, the driver Asniar uses (Harry) is such a gentleman, for a great price. The homestay is also close to warungs, Indomart and Alfamart, the bus station, and a local market (around 10mins walk) so you have the best of both worlds. The location is very peaceful, the pond was fun as our little one could fish, the garden is beautiful and we personally enjoy the roaming cats who pop by for a cuddle (if you're into that). Overall we cannot fault our week long stay here. Especially as a family with a little one! We would highly recommend and will absolutely come to stay here again when we return to Bukit. Thank you to everyone who made our stay unforgettable. It was hard to leave!

The warm welcome ! It makes your travel. I'm used to travel by my own and finding a human place where I feel like home is a gift. All the family here was respectful, gentle and kind with me. The quality for the price is superbe and you will be served if you look for adventure and nature. An immersive experience avoiding touristic places thanks to this accommodation that I deeply recommend. People that you meet is a big important of your travel and Grandma Guesthouse was. The plus : Yusuf, the owner, brought me to visit a school that he created for the village named "Kolibri", and it was one of my best experience meeting these kids in there environment and I'm not sure that I would have done that if I was in a popular hostel. Thank you for this trip !

I ended up staying at the other building the owner has that’s further up the street due to availability. The room was perfect, with an ensuite and fan and a really lovely balcony with a view overlooking the village. It was called ‘Dina.s’. I highly recommend staying there- the owner and his wife were very welcoming and helpful. I think this location is actually nicer than the main building people stay at beside the river.

There was nothing we didn’t like. Comfortable beds, beautifully decorated room, amazing tropical garden, delicious food in the restaurant, the well organised and executed overnight tour into the jungle (yes, we were lucky to see orangutans in the wild) But it is the people working at the Orangutan discovery villa that made our stay unforgettable - highly hospitable, accommodating, genuine in every way. If we are ever to go back to Bukit Lawang it will be the this place.
