This was a beautiful magical place. The best place to see Quetzal is near an avacado tree right on this property. The cabin is right on the river, walking distance to two restaurants with beautiful patios. The drive from Quetzales national park entrance is lots of switchbacks and you must be very careful. Look for the “unicorn lodge” sign on your left coming down the mountain in San Gerardo. “Casa monge” itself isn’t well signed from the main road. I would recommend this place to anyone, it was fantastic! Dirche, the owner, was absolutely lovey and took us out at 5:30 to see the quetzals. I would also recommend the waterfall hike about 2kms down the hill from Casa Monge- a bit treacherous at times but well worth it, 2-3 hrs total!

Beautiful setting and the place to see birds. The rooms were cozy, the restaurant was excellent, and the view spectacular. Expect somewhat chilly nights, but crisp, clear air.

Nice lodges in the middle of nature. The best is breakfast in their restaurant where you can watch hummingbirds feeding.

Really great stay with a great host. It isn't very clear from the listing but this is the same owner as Miriam's Quetzals, which is across the street. That means you have access to the great bird feeders and a small seating area. The restaurant was also quite nice.

Great view and nice people! If you go to the restaurant the same owner runs in the morning or evening, you might be able to see quezals. Other birds and hummingbirds are many all day long. They made us feel peaceful! Enjoy bird watching!

Beautiful location, plenty of space to sleep, relax, have meals plus great views. Very helpful staff that visited the house while we were away and prepared fireplace for us after we used wood the day before. Perfect location to explore Savegre forest and this area. In the cottage we found a contact to very good, profesional birdwatching guide.

We stayed for one night and it was perfect. Cozy Hostel right by the street but you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere. The staff is very friendly and made us some nice dinner and breakfast. Would definitely recommend.

One of our best experiences in Costa Rica, we went to the waterfall with Alvaro and saw a lot of local plants and the views were fantastic. The place was so calm and romantic. Alvaro is great.

Rosy and Olman were so welcoming - I had a great stay. Their property and garden is so beautiful and peaceful. Copey is a small village...not too much to do around here, but nature is amazing and the people very friendly. A lot of agriculture around here. Not a lot of restaurant options around there...I went to El Toucanet lodge...which was very nice (and the manager very friendly).
