This place is truly magical. In the mornings you wake up surrounded by nature, with the songs of birds all around. The family is a lovely couple with two adorable little daughters who brought us fresh flowers from the garden every day. The husband and wife are warm, simple, and genuine – something rare to find nowadays. Staying with them reminded us how happiness really comes from enjoying the little things. The location is close to Sigiriya Rock and even has a view of the rock from the dining area.

Villa Hanguk is an ideal spot if you plan to explore the Dambulla area. The owner is incredibly helpful, offering assistance with scooter or tuk-tuk rentals and organizing local trips. The villa is nestled just 400 meters from the main city street, surrounded by lush paddy fields. The beautifully maintained garden is filled with vibrant plants and flowers, offering plenty of cozy spots to relax—whether in a hammock, at a dining area, or playing table games. Being in the middle of nature, you can expect the delightful sounds of wildlife, including peacocks. It truly adds to the charm of the place. One of the highlights of our stay was the Sri Lankan food. The meals were not only delicious but also generously portioned. I highly recommend skipping outside restaurants and instead asking the staff to prepare dinner for you—you won’t be disappointed!

From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with genuine smiles and kindness that instantly put us at ease. They went above and beyond to help us with everything, from travel tips to little surprises that made us feel so special. They truly love what they do — and it shows in every interaction. And oh, the breakfasts! Each morning started with the most delicious homemade dishes, full of flavor and made with love. Sitting on the cozy veranda, sipping a tea, and enjoying the serene atmosphere was the perfect way to begin the day. The guesthouse also has great WiFi, making it easy to work or stay connected if needed. But honestly, you’ll probably want to spend most of your time soaking in the beauty and calmness of this place. If you’re planning a trip to Dambulla, do yourself a favor and stay here. It’s not just a guesthouse — it feels like a home. We’ll always cherish our time here and can’t wait to come back someday.
