The owner was super friendly and kept the onsen open late for us when we were out too late. He helped us research restaurants in the area and even gave us ice cream after a hot bath!

They renovated the inn themselves and you can see care and attention in every detail from materials used to decor. The food was delicious and much of it was grown (rice) or made (plum wine) by Ken or Yuki. They provided great recommendations for restaurants and side trips. They ensured we were prepared with all the details required to ensure we had successful adventures. We are so lucky to have we picked the Sakonomichi. It was sugoi!!!

The room was clean, comfortable, and exactly what we needed, but what really made our experience special was the hospitality of the owner. They went above and beyond by picking us up from the station when we arrived and even taking us back on our last day, helping with our luggage and giving us a lovely send-off. It made our trip so much easier and more enjoyable. Such kindness and care are rare to find – highly recommend staying here!

The staff were so friendly and accommodating. Venue feels brand new and very clean. Location is close to town, shops, restaurants and the slopes.

Among the various facilities are a garden, a bar, as well as a shared lounge. The guest house features rooms with air conditioning, free private parking and free WiFi. It’s newly renovated, modern interior yet the original skeleton of the property remains, such as the beautiful wooden beams. The lounge, and dining area are social, and it was lovely to meet other guests. I stayed in the dorm for a week, and it’s multi gender but that’s okay. The cubbies are all very comfortable, spacious enough for me as I’m only 5’2. Mattress, pillow and duvet are so warm and cozy. There’s even a mini tv in each space! The amenities are excellent, toiletries are all provided, I was able to do some laundry as well, after a week of snowboarding. The staff are all exceptional, so kind, so caring, respectful and happy demeanour. What a thriving place to be. The staff sometimes cooked me dinners when I came back late, and were happy to hang out with their guests. You won’t regret staying here!

The hotel located along the Oito Line that was accessible by car or taxi from Shinano-Matsukawa, Kita-Hosono or Hosono station. We had multiple email and message communications with the owners. Atsu responded to reassure that our commute concern would be solved. He would pick us up and drop off at Hosono station. The price of the hotel was very affordable and could walk to train station if having no luggage. Atsu was very accommodating to our trip plan change. He was thoughtful to drop us to the Shinano-Matsukawa station that the waiting area was warmer & was in town. Guest rooms were on the 2nd floor of a Curry Restaurant. Atsu helped carrying the suitcase up to the room & brought us furniture that we needed. He was also the chef of the restaurant. The food was yummy. We highly recommended this
