He picks us up his guests at the piers and answers every question you may have. - The place is well situated, just outside Tuktuk main area. - We had a room in the garden, the bed is comfortable and it is quiet at night. - Kettle and fridge in the room. - Good wifi. - Possibility to rent a scooter. There are in good conditions and with a full tank. - Good restaurant next door, for your breakfast. We'll book here again if we visit again Samosir island.

Dila, the host, was exceptional and so kind hearted that it taught me so much during my short 3 days there. It is a nice quiet location, and you can tell that Dila has put her all into making sure the guests have an amazing time. She is always there to answer questions and do everything she can to make you comfortable. She cooks a delicious breakfast with her sister, and likes to take her guests around Padang and show them beautiful things like the clear blue river deep in the village. Stuff you would never find on your own. She even noticed I liked crystals and rocks and showed me a crystal shop I would not have been aware of. I will always cherish my stay here.

Alek the owner is an amazing host, he really takes care of you. The jungle 2 day jungle trek he arranged was amazing too. The accommodation in right in the middle of the town and close to everything. The rooms are good and the bed is super comfy. All in all, I had an amazing stay here.

The best part of the property is the staff. Owner, Tyson welcomed me explained everything needed. A young lady working at the cafe (Diza, sorry if I mistaken the name)made me one of the best meals in Indonesia I’ve ever tried. Sweet dog and cat were also welcoming and slept under my room’s door at night.The room was simple but very clean with beautiful garden setting. The location is a little bit out of town, but walkable and very quiet. Tyson also organized a jungle trek for me and that was also very good. We saw 8 orangutans)

Super clean place with kind, caring, and helpful hosts. The room was great, the bed perfect for a good night’s sleep with A/C. Hot shower, strong WiFi, and everything well maintained. Food was delicious. Everything reasonably priced too! Hosts were super responsive and accommodating. A perfect stop near Medan airport or for a stay in the city. 5 stars—highly recommend and hope to be back soon!

My stay at Cheeky Monkeys was brilliant. Sarah, Ade and the team were fantastic and helped me out when I needed a last minute trek into the jungle. My guide Rial was fantastic too. A really peaceful escape.

The location is stunning and we had an amazing time in the jungle trekking and saw lots of Orangutans. The village 15 minute walk away is lovely.

This is the best place to experience the true bukit lawang - almost tourist free. I stayed here with my baby for more than a week and we’ve felt so like home here. The river is absolutely stunning with deep pools, shallow pools and a sandbank!! You are also so close to the national park, and the stream of water directly from the mountain (just a 5min walk away). Every mornings and evenings we are greeted with unique jungle music and sounds of orang utans (now and then). We even spotted a big male orang utan right at the back of our room once. Food and fruit juices were absolutely delicious and people here are very friendly. They played with my daughter very much like family and it made our stay a very comfortable one. If you’re coming with family or babies, you can request for the upper big room with shelves and is more spacious. The view from the balcony is absolutely stunning.

Beautiful views of the river and the jungle beyond, where macaques roam and even an orangutan made an appearance. The macaques occasionally ran across our roof and balcony — the kids were thrilled. We went on several treks with guides from this accommodation, and all of them were amazing. We saw 12 orangutans of all sizes, macaques, Thomas leaf monkeys, turtles, and even hornbills. For those interested in more unusual animals, I highly recommend the evening snake walk — it was simply incredible. The food was excellent and very reasonably priced. We’re glad we chose Obiwan’s Indra Valley Inn for our stay in Bukit Lawang.
