We stayed at this charming accommodation in Tairua and thoroughly enjoyed our time. It’s a converted part of a house with a private entrance, so while it’s not a fully equipped apartment, it’s absolutely perfect for backpackers or travellers on the go. You’ll find everything you need here, except perhaps an oven, but for a short stay, it’s more than sufficient. What truly sets this place apart is the amazing host. She went above and beyond, spending over an hour with us to share invaluable tips on what to see and do in this beautiful part of New Zealand. As Europeans unfamiliar with the area, this kind of guidance was priceless and made our stay so much more enjoyable. We wholeheartedly recommend this accommodation!

The place was just amazing ! The house and room were just gorgeous and in front of the beach. Heather and her husband were amazing, helpful and kind and gave us recommandations for restaurants and spots to visit. The breakfast was great, it was on par with a 5-star hotel breakfast ! Wine, chesse and snacks were also included with the room, a really nice touch.

Staying at The Waterways Boathouse was the highlight of our trip to Whitianga. Our hosts, Grant and Robyn are an absolute delight and the welcome was warm and genuine. Our self-contained bedroom with ensuite was beautifully appointed and the bed was extremely comfortable. We shared use of a kitchen and sitting room with another guest and appreciated being able to make tea and coffee when we liked. The included breakfasts were sumptuous. We loved sitting, with a wine in hand, watching the sun set over the waterway. We’ve travelled extensively and this place is hard to beat. We are so very pleased we stumbled across it and can’t wait until we visit again. Do yourself a favour and book The Waterways Boathouse.
