The proximity of the guest house was very close to the station, and the host and hostess, Funa and Kimi were extremely kind and helpful. The introduction to their guest house was very thoroughly, and made sure everyone was warm after traveling through the winter snow and temperature. Not only were the hosts very friendly and willing to chat, but they even provided and help make reservations at recommended restaurants! When I asked where I could find a furoshiki I could purchase for a souvenir, Kimi kindly offered one she had for me to take home as a souvenir! I had a great time chatting with them while waiting for my train to the next destination. They were even helping some other guests with translation of medical documents due to an injury received while skiing. Funa and Kimi are the perfect host to anyone staying in Otaru! I stayed in the Japanese style room and wish I could have stayed longer. Next time I go to Otaru, there's no doubt I'll be staying with them again!

We arrived at New Chitose airport in the evening when it was snowing quite heavily. Our flight was delayed and we had to pick up our rental car out-of-hours before making our way to Otaru, yet the receptionist was extremely understanding of the situation and told us to take our time to drive safely. She waited for us until we arrived close to 11pm, and we couldn't have asked for more to put us at ease after a tense journey to Otaru!

The location is amazing! The mountains are so close, and in the winter, the blanket of snow over everything is mesmerising. It is positioned in a great apot to visit both Otaru and Sapporo. The train ride to Otaru is amazing with great ocean views. The room was not cold in the winter with the heater that you can use and the facilities were all very clean and well maintained.

This is a great little place in a residential area, very well located to the main tourist strip in Otaru. There's a shared kitchen that I didn't use but looked well equipt. Room had a private bathroom. Very quiet. Parking spot is narrow, but typical for Japan. If you have a large vehicle, there is overnight paid parking nearby.
