Kokonoe Machiya is a place filled with thoughtfulness, warmth, and lots of attention to detail. Even before we arrived, Toni was already helpful with receiving our bags which we had sent over in advance. He prepared some wonderful Japanese breakfasts that were perfect for New Years celebration in Japan (with some delicious pudding to end with). The shared bathrooms and toilets were convenient and always clean, and having a well set-up Google assistant in the room was a great function we didn't even know we wanted. The quiet walks to and from the bus stops gave us a nice glimpse of local life. Chatting with Toni was delightful; his openness and sincerity were truly felt and allowed for some heartfelt and enjoyable conversation. It was very interesting to see the culture from his unique perspective. We had a really comfortable stay and left feeling inspired and refreshed.
