Our stay was more like a visit with good friends and a highlight of our month long journey through Portugal. We tried to stray from the main tourist route and were amply rewarded! Our hosts, Luiz & Celia, restored the family mansion to its original splendor, in a very authentic manner - the main house as well as the enticing adjacent old stone cottages, which are self- catering. Luiz took us to the remains of the Roman bridge and road, well worth a visit. He also showed us around his own house, a remarkable 'house museum'. Definately worth a detour.
