If you're looking for a high quality local experience in Zanzibar, this is the place to go. Sandrine and David are the nicest hosts. They helped us before the trip with all questions that we had. Also, the breakfast was amazing and so was the lunch. I can recommend this place to anyone travelling to Zanzibar!

My husband and I loved staying in Mama Root at the end of our trip in Tanzania (Kilimanjaro, safari tour, Chumbe Island) and found Mama Root to be one of the highlights of the trip. It was amazing to just relax at the hotel and read in a peaceful environment (and after more than 2 weeks of adventure, it was just what we needed). We ate every meal there and everything was delicious and they helped my husband set up a cute beachside dinner our last evening as a surprise. There are dogs on the property that are friendly and would walk with us on the beach. Overall an amazing experience! Wish we stayed longer and hope to come back again.

I came here after climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, my main goal was to sleep, swim and relax after the hike. Overall, perfect place if you are looking for a little hideaway. Lovely sea view from my room. A number of hamocks, couches and sunbeds along the sea front to chose from to chill and sleep. Didnt feel overcrowded, very relaxed atmosphere, food, drinks, massage all well priced

We had wonderful days in Salida Beach! The garden is very peaceful and quiet. We were in Kizimkazi for 4 nights and we didn't leave the property because we felt so well and happy there, with the sea right in front of us, and the most gentle staff we met! Sophie is a great cook: we had the most tasty juices, breakfasts and lunch made by her! The best of all was her smile everyday. She was always in a good mood and ready to work. She also cleaned the room everyday and put her love in the decoration with the bath towels! Everyday a beautiful surprise from her magical hands! :) Manka was the one welcoming us and she was also constantly asking if we needed something, very sweet of her! :) We miss them already and we for sure will be back to see them and sleep in the super-comfortable bed, s pacious room, clean, new, with its balcony where we use to spend some time reading or just enjoying the view! :) We totally recommend your stay in Salida Beach, a new project that will for sure be very well known in Zanzibar! Congratulations to the very welcoming owner who shared his passion with us! See you soon!

Outstanding hosts at Mandarin, feels just like home! We had a pleasant 2-nights stay and it was total relaxation for us. The ambience was great, very clean, all the staff were great, Chef Amir made the best of dishes (breakfast was also top notch) and extra stars for the GM Mr. Hany! There are different activities at Mandarin but unfortunately, we were only there to basically eat, sleep and enjoy the beach though I am sure they would be just as great. If you are looking for a great affordable place in Zanzibar then Mandarin Resort it is!

It was my birthday and I was surprised with a cake and staff sang for me including the live band during dinner.Very thoughtful and nice of them. By the time I retired to my room,another surprise was waiting. They made up the bedroom beautifully with flowers and candles and wrote a happy birthday with my name. The manager Rakeesh ( I hope I spelt his name correctly) was also very nice and arranged some entertainment at The Pavilion Restaurant . Upon checkout,we had missed breakfast and Benjamin was kind enough to offer us pizza. Thank you to all the staff at The Residence. You made my stay beautiful. Also the privacy of having your own pool was really nice.
