The owner runs the place alone, but he still went all the way to the airport to pick me up. Despite my very limited Japanese ability, we were able to communicate quite well.. But the most important thing was he helped me rent a small scooter that I surely would not be able to rent without a local person vouching for me. This made my Amami trip really unforgettable and I'm forever grateful for the help I have received here! Also the evening of tasting local shōchū and stargazing was amazing. I will be back!

hosted by a lovely couple. also if you not speak japanese there is no problem to make things happen, super helpful and supportive. Now my second time and my go for place to stay on this beautiful island. i enjoy the tatami room, but also there is one room with a western bed. a kitchen with everything what is needed to prepare food and tea / coffee. I hope you enjoy this place like I do.

I had a wonderful stay at this guesthouse, warmly welcomed by the amazing hosts. The price–quality ratio is honestly one of the best I’ve ever experienced. The breakfast was absolutely delicious, and on my last day, Kami even prepared some homemade onigiri for me to take for lunch, they were so tasty and such a thoughtful gesture. I truly felt cared for throughout my stay. This was the best place I stayed at in Japan, and when I return to Amami, I will definitely come back here.

I can honestly say this was our best stay at a hotel, B&B, house, ever. The house has lots of space, it’s located right on the beach, the décor is really thoughtful and it’s super comfy, stylish and well equipped. Then there’s the host, Maruchi-san. In a nutshell, she’s just amazing. She prepares some incredible breakfasts, always fresh and always different. We stayed for 5 nights and every morning, she added something that was specifically local, be that a special tea, sugar made on the island, or fermented juice shots. She suggested where to go to see sea turtles that would not be in any guide. She is super accommodating and very thoughtful. As an example, we went for a quick swim and brought only one towel. She was walking on the beach, picking up rubbish left by the tide, noticed we only had one towel and promptly left another. Oh, did I mention how good the breakfasts were? Absolutely outstanding host and place - we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and wished we coyld have stayed longer. Thank you, Maruchi-san!

It's called "Yamato Inn," but this is a holiday cottage not an inn. We (5 of us) stayed for two nights in May and we loved it. The house has a bedroom, futon mattresses for the living room floor, and a folding bed next to the kitchen area. It's quite tight to fit 5 people but we didn't mind. The house had everything we needed including a well-equipped kitchen with tea/coffee and bottles of water, a living room with a lovely handmade wooden coffee table, and comfortable beds. In the entrance hall, the hosts thoughtfully provide beach equipment (BBQ, tents, snorkelling gear) and torches for night safaris -- during which we found many rabbits!! There's a very nice garden with a deck and lawn. It's such a pleasant place to sit and relax. The beach is about 100m from the house. Perfect. The young couple who own and manage the cottage are really friendly and helpful. They have worked hard to reform the house, and they deserve to succeed. I hope many more people will stay... We will stay again as soon as we can!

Everything! The house is beautiful, the village and the beach is amazing and Amami is heavenly. The house has everything you need and it’s very comfortable. Having the windows open at night to let in the fresh air and the sound of all the animals was great! We were surprised there wasn’t a single insect in the house, despite Amami’s tropical climate. The coral reefs are pretty far off shore at Kuninao beach, but we found that they were a bit closer at the southernmost end of the beach, near the cliffs. We were even visited by a sea turtle out there! The beach is at its best at sundown, but when it gets dark the hermit crabs become active, and it’s so much fun watching these little guys struggling with their oversized homes There’s a great lunch place nearby too, Bee lunch, with tasty food and friendly chicken :)

Felt at home right away. The location was the best, straight at the beach! All they things you need are available in this nice modern big appartement. More than enough clean towels, nice beds, decent bathroom, kingsize tv, good kitchen and even a good washing machine. What is not to like?
