Hotel Azul is definitely worth the trip to Playa Azul for its excellet amenities and gastronomy. To make the experience even better, we visited Playa San Juanillo featuring two calm bays separated by a narrow strip of sand. The crystal-clear waters and serene ambiance make it a perfect spot for swimming and snorkeling.

This is the best place to stay if you want to see the arribada of turtles! The starting point of the tours is just right across the street. Ostional is quite far to drive from other locations, it is advisable to drive there in daylight and stay in the village for a night. The house is basic but comfortable, the rooms have AC and stable wifi. The hosts were super kind depsite the language barrier.

We loved that the beach was right in front of the property. Alejandro, the host, was super kind. Communication was quick and he helped us with everything that we needed. He made our stay (2 adults, one 5 year old and a baby) very comfortable. Parking is right on the property. If you are interested in fishing, the beach is amazing to catch some nice fish: there are roosters, jacks, trigger fish, blue runners, mangrove snapper and more... Locals there know how it's done and fish there daily. They are kind and can help you out. If there are plenty of sardines in the water, safe your time with artificial lures. Get some sardines and fish on the bottom. You won't wait long for a bite ;)

The rooms are spacious and clean, the location with the beach access is a gem and the staff is super friendly and nice. We stayed there for four days and we did not want to leave. Definitely an amazing place.

Great location just steps from a huge beach where you can decide if you want to stay in a beach bar among people or walk a bit and be pretty much alone. Very friendly owner who is happy to help and advise with any question you might have and is also great cook if you want to order e.g. a special dinner :)

Overall, the hotel is pretty great and the owners are lovely. It's very quiet, the rooms are nice and the beds firm. The owners cook their own meals at the restaurant, it takes some time but it's very tasty. For the money you pay (which is half the price of most villas in the vicinity) it's a steal. Right on the beach, close to the main road and a bunch of places to eat. The pool is large, bigger than most tiny hotel pools, and is cleaned regularly. Rooms are also cleaned a few times a week. There are howler monkeys living in the trees right next to the hotel.
