  • OPEN WATER SWIM

    Chatham
Our unique urban playground offers the opportunity to immerse yourself into nature, plunging straight into 10 meters of deep salt water from our purpose built swim ramp. All swimmers MUST have completed a swim induction before attending a public swimming session. To help ensure your safety all swimmers will be required to wear a brightly coloured swim hat and use a tow float. Before entering the water you will be required to sign in to the water and sign back out on exiting the water. During all swimming sessions there will be a safety boat made ready to assist in case of an emergency and all centre staff are first aid trained. We carry out bathing water quality testing regularly and will display the current indictive status along with water temperature. Wetsuits are compulsory for the Induction and once the water drops below 16c, not only do wetsuits offer thermal protection, additionally they provide additional buoyancy and we recommend that everybody wears one. There will be no hot drinks available from the centre so please do bring a flask, or you can purchase from the cafe Inductions and public swims are accessible to children over the age of 12, once the water temperature is at 18c and above, under 18’s must be always accompanied and supervised in the water by a responsible Adult (18+) and wear a wetsuit at all times.
