First, visit one of the historical sights of Oman and get to know the rich and vibrant history of the country and have an insight of its heritage. Then and through Oman majestic mountains and curvy valleys, you will be taken up to the highest mountain in the Gulf which goes up to 3000 meters above sea level and let the breath-taking view of the Grand Canyon amaze you. Finally, at the city of Al Hamra, you will see an ancient village famous for its ruins and oasis of farms over the edge of very dry mountains.
Today we are going to visit Nizwa, ancient capital of Oman. In the program:

Visit villages ,farms and mountains not known for tourist.
The program starts by driving to Burkat Almouz Village to learn more about the UNISCO world Heritage water canals “Falaj” and to walk around the dates farms and the famous Banana trees.
The second destination is the summit of Aljabal Alakhdar which means in Arabic, the green mountain.This mountain famous of pomegranate ,olives and roses harvesting. The cold atmosphere of this mountain gives a sensational experience different than the rest of the Arabian peninsula weather due to the climate, which is similar to the Mediterranean environment.
Kick off your adventure with a 6-7 AM pick-up from Muscat to Jebel Shams, Oman’s highest peak. Arriving by 9-10 AM, embark on the scenic Balcony Walk along Wadi Ghul, enjoying stunning views and exploring the historic village of Sab Bani Khamis. Hike to the hidden lake and head back to the vehicles before enjoying lunch. Visit the ruins of Ghul before returning to Muscat by 7-8 PM, inspired by Jebel Shams' breathtaking landscapes.
Fitness Requirements
No prior experience nor special fitness required since it is a rather light trek and anyone can enjoy the walk, even if you do not want to go the entire distance.
It is kids friendly, however, we highly recommend keeping kids close by and under supervision at all time.
Essentials
This hike is easy, but do not underestimate the heat in the area.
Recommended items to enjoy your experience:
- sun protection: sunscreen, lip balm, hat, sunglasses
- comfortable shoes
- swimming gear
- healthy snacks
As a rule of thumb, please inform someone you know when you are starting the hike and when you expect to return.
If needed, trekking poles could be arranged at an extra charge.
