You can use the free shuttle from the airport to the temples to go to the apartment, as it will stop on the way. Perfect!

If you are visiting Abu Simbel to see the iconic temples at sunrise from the lake, or with far fewer tourists in the late afternoon, Abu Simbel Nubian Guest House is a great place to stay. If you reserve the upstairs bedrooms, you can have breakfast in the balcony, with a view of the outdoors. They have a washing machines that you can use to do your laundry, and you can hang the clothes to dry on the balcony (they dried overnight). Breakfast is made by a person in the community and can be Western or local style. Ramadan, the owner, went above and beyond the call of duty in providing us car transport between the guest house and temples, for example, because of the hot weather. The temples are within walking distance, maybe about 20 mins or so. He can also arrange a sunrise boat tour to see the temples from the water, which I would highly recommend. You can easily walk to the boat from the guesthouse, about 5-7 minutes. There are a few restaurants for foreigners, a couple within walking distance and a couple that are easier by car.

After a somewhat hectic and chaotic time Cairo, the slower paced and more nature-based scenery of Aswan, especially on Elephantine Island, was such a welcome change. The place is a bit hidden but has beautiful views across the Nile of Aswan, which is especially stunning at night. Yasin was a great host who picked me up by boat to take me to Awi House and also helped me with booking trips such as Philae Temple and a day trip to Abu Simbel, and Ahmed dropped me off by boat at the end of my stay. Overall I would definitely stay here again!

It’s a good choice if you just want to spend one night to fully enjoy Abu Simbel. The apartment is in a quiet place near the downtown area and the temple, easy to buy stuffs in the market or go to local restaurant. Osama also offers a good local breakfast at the time of your request. BTW the market owned by an old couple near the apartment has fair price for water and food.
