Apartments in Oshima

Spacious house, beautiful tatami floor, and cozy beds. We loved everything about the house and miss it already! The owner is a warm, kind, and friendly person. He took great care of us and in return, we had a nice BBQ with him and his son. 👋🏽 He told us a lot about the island, where to go, what to see and expect - we were never bored and always happy and satisfied. We are very thankful for the opportunity and will return sometime soon. 🥰

Ideal place to get your own impression what a Japanese house may look like. Of course it is not 100% the way how it was in previous century and a warm toilet seat adds positive impression anyway, but we are awfully happy that were able to live here! We had comfortable sleeping places, pillows around table and enjoyed a possibility to cook food using a gas stove. The water was very hot and the water pressure was good which is better than we expected.

A very cosy, traditional Japanese-style house, a stone's throw from both the beach and the centre of Oshima. Wonderfully kind and understanding hosts, who accommodated a last-minute change in travel plans - our ferry couldn't make it over from Tokyo initially due to weather conditions. Next time we are in Oshima, we will be sure to stay here again!

We stayed in Japan for a month and travelled to Oshima Island for a week staying in this wonderful home. Now that we’ve finished our trip, we can safely say it was our favourite place we stayed on the trip. The view feels like you’re on a ship looking out to sea. The tranquility was wonderful. On one of the days it was clear enough to see Mount Fuji from the house, it was stunning! There would often be many buzzards flying directly above the house. The host was very nice, he really made us feel welcome. This really helped us settle in quickly and know we’re being looked after. We didn’t hire a car which wasn’t a problem as the bus stop is just a couple of minutes walk away from the house. From there we could access most of the island. We really enjoyed the traditional Japanese style of the house. The Futons were comfortable and were perfect for our toddler to sleep next to us. The house has many sliding doors so you can adjust the space to your liking. The kitchen was very well equipped, there was even some salt, pepper, spices etc which most places wouldn’t usually include. This made it easy to cook during our stay without having to buy these bits. The house is just a couple minutes walk to the beach. There is a direct access down some steps so you don’t need to walk / cross any roads. We hope to visit again in the future and do some fishing. Thank you for making our stay so special!
