Lion Sands was an incredible experience! The room we stayed in was like its own private villa with every amenity you could want. The safari drives were amazing, and the staff was what really made our stay special. Our guide Albert and tracker Mishak were the best! They really went above and beyond to make sure we saw every animal possible, and were so knowledgable and fun to be around. Emotion was our waiter the whole time and he always made sure we had everything we wanted! Fortune was also amazing and helped us with our camera rental. Everyone who worked there was so welcoming and professional.

Impeccable location. Secluded, serene and special. You’re welcomed with open arms and are readily catered to your needs. Take the time to slow down - or else you miss the hidden treasures. Game drives with experienced guides & trackers, and service staff to make the best of each moment. Thank you, team. It was a pleasure.

Although it's a tent, it has all the hotel facilities inside, and the service is also very high standard. The three meals are also very good. I even ran into an antelope on the less than 100 meter road to dinner one day.
Of course, if it's just these hardware, this Lodge won't leave a very prominent impression. Safari's tour guide will do everything possible to help you find animals. They share information about animal presence and will not rush back due to a 3-hour time limit. Before coming to Kruger, we had seen some animals in Chobe and on our first day here, we collected big five, which we were quite satisfied with. But the next morning Safari collected big five at once, and the luckiest thing was to see a group of five lions, who were located on the border of their private territory. I sincerely recommend the highly cost-effective Umkumbe bush lodge, and I believe I will always remember the beautiful memories here.

I really enjoy my time at LangaLanga. All the stuff there are very genuine and helpful.
KB picked me from the airport and accompanied me during the whole trip. He recommended night safari and panorama route to me. He even waited for me for a couple of hours when I did that night safari. He wanted me to have the best experience, even it may come at his inconvenience. I am really thankful for that. He is a down-to-earth, respectful, trustworthy and knowledgeable field guide. I highly recommend his accompany. The rest of the stuff, such as Kaylen, Belief, Vincent, are all being very attentive and helpful during my journey as well. I appreciate them greatly.
The bed is very comfortable. The tent is beyond my expectations. Food are very delicious.
Overall speaking, it’s a fantastic place to stay to explore Kruger! I highly recommend!

Natural Beauty and Great Dining Marred by Neglected Infrastructure
The Skukuza area remains one of the most stunning regions of Kruger National Park. Despite some operational challenges, the sheer abundance of wildlife—ranging from massive elephant herds to frequent lion and leopard sightings along the Sabie River—is breathtaking.
Wildlife and Natural Beauty
The scenery is spectacular, especially the riverine forests along the Sabie and Sand River loops, which are prime spots for game viewing. Even from within the camp, you can often see hippos and crocodiles in the river below. Nearby Lake Panic is a must-visit for birdwatchers and photographers seeking a peaceful atmosphere.
Dining Highlights
Skukuza offers some of the best dining variety in the park:
Kruger Station: This unique lifestyle precinct is built into a beautifully restored historical train station. You can dine inside old train carriages or on the deck. The menu is diverse, featuring standout items like venison pies and artisan pizzas.
Cattle Baron Steakhouse: Known for its "grilled perfection," this is the go-to spot for a quality steak. The large outdoor deck overlooking the river provides one of the best dining views in the entire park.

Sabi game reserve is quite big with many private lodges...
Sabi game reserve is quite big with many private lodges inside. It is open to Kruger park, so animals are free to roam anywhere. The difference is that the ranger and tracker can actually follow an animal wherever they go (without entering Kruger). It is expensive , but if you can afford it, the experience is quite different.
The ranger and tracker that took us for a drive from Umkumbe were great. The ranger spotted a chameleon on the tree, in the dark, under the light beam from the trackers torch, at a distance of about 25m. We have no clue how!
Great experience to be able to go offroad in the vehicle and get really close to the animals. A leopard had hidden their kill in the tree, which we went back to after dark, when the leopard had come back. Unfortunately that was the only cat we saw that night. Saw a hippo and a hyena too, but that's just luck when you are out in the bush.
A family on the previous night had seen the leopard kill the buck as well.
The private Sabi game drive is expensive, and depending on how lucky you get, you might think it is either worth it/or a waste of money.

Spacious and comfortable room and lovely pool and gym facilities. Immediate access the park so great for self-drives or guided tours. The breakfast buffet was excellent but the evening buffet was pretty average, however, there are other restaurant choices within walking distance.

I paid 5,700 Rand for 3 evening drives in the reserve each lasting around 3 hours. I've been on many a game drive in the area over the years and when game spotting I am optimistic and realistic at the same time. I saw a 3 lions and a leopard along with other animals. On a scale of 1 to 10 I would rate my overall experience as 6. If I were to travel to the area in the future I would book 1 drive and concentrate my game viewing in Kruger Park.
