A number of good and inexpensive local restaurants around. Nice, leafy neighbourhood. And the staff is wonderful: very helpful, smiley, making sure you have a nice stay. Highly recommended. As for Dien Bien Phu: good city, well worth visiting. People are lovely.

Duc Thang Guest House (Nhà Nghỉ Đức Thắng) is a recently renovated guest house in Diện Biên Phủ, where guests can make the most of its massage services and garden. Great stay. Linh, the owner, is very friendly and helps with anything you need, including bus tickets to Laos, Laos Kip etc. She has a restaurant next door that she also cooks in with good food. The room was clean, comfortable, and very nice views of the city. The location is convenient for buses and very walkable to amenities and sights in the city. Very good value for money!

Tuan Minh Guest House is set in Diện Biên Phủ. There is a private entrance at the guest house for the convenience of those who stay. The beds were sooo comfortable. Literally the most comfy beds we've had on our SEA trip so far! Had a balcony too which was a great touch. Restaurants right down stairs, got our bus from the restaurant next door, to sapa which was really convenient. (Although not sure if I recommend that one as it looks 10 hours rather than the 5 it should have taken.) But really convenient place, bit of a walk to A1 and the museum but not too far if you're a strong walker.

The room was excellent, big and well appointed. The staff were lovely, friendly and helpful. I used the gym and there was a pool upstairs. The breakfast buffet was good and had a variety of fresh food.

Location is good for sightseeing and eating dinner and breakfast. Also, transfer service from/to the airport and the bus station with reasonable fee. I asked to send me to the bus station at 4:30AM, so they gladly provide it.
