The staff was incredibly welcoming and kind. Very clean. We travel quite a bit across the U.S. and this was by far the best Best Western we have ever stayed in.

Everything: it is clean, great location, has coffee maker fridge and microwave, wifi, desk, complimentary breakfast, it is a classic motel-style place, so doesn't have that impersonal feel of a chain. Staff friendly, and just a good vibe. It is an older building but well kept up, freshly painted. Lots of hot water, tub, AC. Location is excellent, a drive of just minutes from downtown Brunswick and Bowdoin College. We have stayed here multiple times. Oh yeah and they even have laundry machines.
The Comfort Inn hotel has country ambiance and is the gateway to several coastal towns and villages. The hotel is located just minutes from the following: Bowdoin College.

My only complaint is most eateries are closed on Mondays, like most towns, hard to find a good seafood restaurant in the area. Hard to navigate the town, lots of roads were closed due to construction/repairs on the railroad? tracks.

Huge disappointment and very poor value for money.
Huge disappointment and very poor value for money.
Liked · Location was good. Spacious property. Quiet shoreline property with a lovely view
Disliked · Property was very tired and needed a major refit. Stuffed with the possessions and clutter of the owners. Not very clean and generally in poor state. Sanitary ware stained with rusty sink plugs & jacuzzi bath had clearly been broken for some time. Old uncomfortable beds and a smell of damp. Very disappointing indeed.

We loved the small coves, peaceful vistas not too many tourists but not desolate either! The many choices for meals were nice, and a must visit is Popham Beach and the fort that sits just beyond the beach!

Small town virtues, great sense of community.
Small town virtues, great sense of community. Easy access to larger towns and cities including Bath, Brunswick, and Freeport. Waterfront for boat launching and swimming with separate access for canoes, kayaks, and paddle boards. Nice walks and hikes in the general area.
Free shows and concerts at the waterfront suitable for everyone.

Over 6 weeks ago I sent TWO complaints about our stay in Freeport, ME, but I never even got a reply. Our stay was terrible! There were no drapes on the window and at nightfall a bright blue architectural light mounted outside, right next to the window, came on casting a very bright blue glow into the room all night! As for calling the desk, the phone wasn’t working properly and I wasn’t going downstairs in my nightgown. Plus the chargers next to the bed were too old to accommodate recent technology. Those are the highlights of our stay, and to not even get a response after notifying them TWICE is beyond unacceptable!
I always thought Holiday Inn was synonymous with quality, and was willingly to pay a bit more, but unfortunately that is obviously no longer the case. My advice going forward, look elsewhere!

When using the cross walks, pay attention to to which crosswalk button you push. Sometimes there are 2 different button on separate poles. One for one direction, and the other for another. They speak to you but, traffic can make it difficult to hear what they say. I thought it told me to walk sideways across the crosswalk. I was like, " man they expect you to carb walk across these thjngs?"
Also if you get a chance to visit the swinging bridge, if you are turning right, it looks like it is a split entrance until you find yourself parked on the sidewalk! But do get out and walk across the bridge, even if you have to keep your eyes closed and have someone guide you! There are some nice walking trails and beaches on the other side.

This house is in a very bad shape.
This house is in a very bad shape. Everything is very used and shabby. The only clean things were the bedsheets and towels in bathroom.
Showering was ok with Flipflops on but not very amusing. Fireplace and Grill outside were broken and could not be used.
The nice part about the house is the location right at the water. Eventhough we would not go into the water there since there was seagrass all over. The house is hidden in the woods so I was happy to have my husband and my son with me. Would have never stayed there alone.
All in all we think this house is not worth the money we paid for it!

A really pleasant town, with lots of historic character. yet also not over-reliant on tourism due to non -intrusive naval dockyard. Excellent centre for touring the beautiful surrounding countryside and sights.

The check in process was unfriendly.
The check in process was unfriendly. Pool is closed, that is the reason I booked this hotel. There were many ants in my room, left a cracker out and it was covered with ants within 20 minutes. I told the front desk and she didn't seem surprised and didn't apologize. Actually there was no comment at all when i told her.
