United KingdomAs seasoned travellers from the UK we came across this little gem after stopping off the Amtrak station. The manager Ansh was fantastic and couldn’t do enough for us. The Victorian room was beautiful and very unique. The history and memorabilia in the hotel was very unique. La plata was a very special place for us and this property is just perfect would definitely recommend to any travellers!

Right off the main Hwy, easy to access, parking well lit.
Right off the main Hwy, easy to access, parking well lit. There is a great Mexican restaurant 2 doors down from the Hotel, bank and Casey's on each side of it, so all the convivences within walking distance. I was traveling to Kirksville and Macon, perfect distance to the college fairs I was scheduled for as admissions counselor! It was wonderful!

The community has grown and improved the accessibility to the city. Truman State University is located here as well as School of Osteopathic Medicine.
The city has a community swimming facility, several parks, city square with shops and farmer's market. The biggest asset is Thousand Hills State Park with cabins, water sports, swimming areas, and walking trails.
I'm a farm girl and can assure you that there is beautiful country scenery if you like to take those drives in the country. You could find an Amish store, Antique store, round red barn, and maybe a few local roadside produce stands.
I'm now a traveler to this gem. It used to be home.

The staff were very helpful, courteous, kind, happy, smiling all the time. Even though they were short staffed they took care of our every need. They tried their best to get the HOT TUB working but the parts to fix it never came in. This hot tub was one of the main reasons we chose this facility over others in town. We almost moved but the staff were so helpful & professional we opptied to stay.
