Right by the airport, we actually walked the 15 minutes from and to the airport, as we just had a layover in-between flights. Easy check-in, and there were cafes and restaurants within walking distance.

i love how helpful the manager was in extending our stay at the hotel. We had to keep extending for my daughter’s appointments and Tati (the manager) was so awesome and understanding.

In Honolulu center, close to everything. No problem with check in, perfect instructions to get keys(I came very late). We had rental car so free parking is a big plus. Accomodation as described, wonderful views from very high floor. Recommend.

Honolulu International Airport (HNL) Information

Location and Transport

Situated 6 miles (9 kilometres) northwest of central Honolulu, Honolulu International Airport (also known as 'Daniel K. Inouye International Airport') is connected by local buses, which depart every 30 minutes. Alternatively, the ‘SpeediShuttle’ bus provides a door-to-door pickup service, departing from Waikiki or Honolulu Harbor, while Taxicabs cost between USD 40 and take about 15 minutes.

Nearby Hotels and Airport Facilities

Travellers with scheduled stopovers or unexpected delays can choose between several hotels near the airport. Some hotels provide a shuttle service. Despite the crowds, staff at Hawaii’s biggest airport still greet visitors with ‘Lei’ – handmade fresh flower garlands – when arranged upon request. This is just a taster of things to come, with other attractions like ‘Cultural Gardens’ and a variety of artwork and murals found inside. Other services include duty-free shopping, ATMs and storage facilities.

Terminal Information

A wheelchair-friendly shuttle bus links the airport’s three terminals, operating regularly between 06:00 and 10:00. Catching a connecting flight at Honolulu International will require travellers to pass through immigration - a passport, visa or ESTA may be necessary.

Honolulu is a vibrant city but extremely busy over the Christmas/New Year period Waikīkī Beach is clean and safe - lots of activities available for all ages Enjoyed a trip in a glass bottom boat, the Chief’s Luau on New Year’s Eve - the Fire Dancing show was excellent My family enjoyed their Surfing Lessons

Location was exactly what we were looking for away from the chaos of Honolulu. Paradise Bay Resort is a great place to stay, Whiskey Smoke 808 Bar-b-Q is a good value, and Haleiwa Joe's Haiku Gardens is good but pricey. Enough stores and other options to have snacks for the room. Enough beach choices and other activities within a short drive.

Great location. We used the train to get to Pearl Harbour. Did the park and ride. Saved a lot of time being stuck in the busy traffic. Loads of places to eat. The Olive Garden was great food. Dole pineapple plantation and the Polynesian Cultural Center were lovely places to visit very interesting

Beautiful beach, that was the best part.

Beautiful beach, that was the best part. The prices in Hawaii are ridiculous. Very high. The are grocery stores that you can buy your own food and cook if you have a kitchen. Nice people. My fav was the taco truck that had such good fresh healthy food. I would eat there everyday. He was on Kihapai st and oneawa st , late in the evening. Best recommendation. Its mostly safe, some homeless here and there not much in the residential areas. Few bars from high end, to crossroads to Kailua tavern that has the best karaoke bartender you have ever heard. He sings and makes your drinks. Food is ok, if you are a foodies it's hit and miss.. in the restaurants.. Super fun, you can get amazing surfing cheap lessons with Mike and Andy at 808 Surt School by Kamehameha Hwy opposite of the shrimp shack. Lot of great experiences, so much beautiful sun. Beautiful place. We'll be back.

Waikiki was loud and a bit overcrowded.

Waikiki was loud and a bit overcrowded. Mind you, this was between Christmas and New Years’ Eve. I wouldn’t visit again when it is this busy. Also, Honolulu just isn’t that nice. Even the Waikiki area, which has all the expensive shops and feels like it’s trying to be the Rodeo Drive of Honolulu isn’t that special. There are some nice pockets here and there, and a couple nice resorts and hotels, but after leaving for Aulani today, I don’t really want to go back. This place is so much nicer, and from here we can still visit other parts of the island, so our next trip will start and end here rather than Honolulu.

Although I thought the room needed upgrading, the property itself was lovely and the staff was great. I really enjoyed the easy-going feel of the place - just what I needed. It was often cloudy in the morning but sun came out in the afternoon. We rented a car which worked out great but they do charge a 15$ fee for parking each day. Overall I would stay again and would recommend to friends.

Kailua is a quiet place to stay, away from the crowds in Honolulu. It is close to beaches and has easy access to grocery stores and restaurants in town. Access to activities in Honolulu are not far way via the Pali Highway.

Honolulu has many restaurants to chose from.

Honolulu has many restaurants to chose from. If you leave the tourist area then pricing is reasonable. There are many shops and Honolulu is home to the Aloha Stadium swap meet. The traffic, however, is horrendous. Hopefully the new tram system they are building will help alleviate the traffic issue.
