We flew from Tbilisi and were exhausted after two nights in a noisy, uncomfortable hotel there, only to find that items had been stolen from our suitcases at Tblisi Airport. The staff at Skyport were so friendly and welcoming, they upgraded us to the best suite. It was huge with a double bed and two single beds, a large kitchen with appliances, including a kettle and tea and water, very nice slippers and above all very clean and quiet with panoramic windows. It is very convenient for Sabiha Gökçen Airport as it is only 1.7 km away. There are plenty of shops, cafés and restaurants next to the hotel. I would have liked to stay a second night just to relax after our trip to Georgia, but had a flight to catch the next day. My friend was also very pleased with the hotel. A taxi costs between 55 and 80 Lira from the hotel to Sabiha Gökçen Airport.

The hotel was very clean since it had just opened about a month ago. All the bed linen and blankets were new. Most rooms don’t have windows, but we were lucky to get one with a window. We stayed for one night. Everything was great, and the staff were very friendly. The only small downside was that there was no nearby place to eat, as we arrived late.

Tuzla is a wonderful area on the edge of Istanbul.
Tuzla is a wonderful area on the edge of Istanbul. It has much fewer tourists and more of the local people, which gives it a more authentic feel of its culture. Despite having many restaurants and cafes now, you can still enjoy its calm atmosphere.

People are friendly and the cafes and shops along the commercial streets are good. The walk along the Sea of Marmara is great - enjoy the sun and the vibrancy.
We were there for 'medical tourism' reasons and that was satisfactory.
We made three trips in two months and stayed at the Hyatt House Gebze for two trips - and were very pleased.

our family of 4 , parents and two early twenty daughters loved the island . We loved that is was very authentic. No Starbuck and no mc Donald. All very typical Turkish. It gets busy in the weekend but lovely during the week. Good to get around by bus or bikes. It is not an island for beach lover but plenty (expensive) beach clubs or places where you can go into the sea. beautiful and green . Defenitely have to take a boat to the other islands ....

It’s a very touristic spot, and during the day it can feel a bit overwhelming with so many people around. The place itself is beautiful, but at times it felt like there was little privacy, with crowds filling every corner of the island. At night, however, it becomes peaceful and feels more local, which we really enjoyed. Overall, two days were more than enough to experience and appreciate the atmosphere.

Darica is a not so attractive suburb of Istanbul, but quite handy place to work remotely, it even got a coffee bar with wifi (200 meter from the place I stayed at), excellent for digital nomads for myself.
However the commute with metro to Istanbul is lengthy, there are no fast options (it would take approximately 1.5 hours from Gebze University metro station to Eminonlu in Istanbul - 28 stops). Plenty of supermarkets are surrounding the Emsa Palace Hotel, but crossing the road is quite cumbersome (very busy traffic).

You need to get the little bus has small red sign on the top (cash only it was 12 TL each) and goes to the marina (viaport mall) you can get off at the marmaray station if you want train into the city. It is very frequent and the bus stop is at the entrance to the complex. Migros jet is there too, but closes at 9pm. Local people were very helpful, just ask if you need to know where things are. We used Google translate a lot. We had dreadful weather for the last 2 days but went to Viaport by bus as there was shopping and loads of restaurants for us. If using the marmaray consider getting an Istanbul Kart for train, metro, tram etc, makes travelling easy. The city was about 1 hour away by train once you got to the Marmaray station. The local people are incredibly well behaved on public transport, very polite and we usually had a seat ( it’s busy and we are old!) we are not used to such behaviour, no one found it necessary to have loud conversations on their phone, eat drink and generally make a nuisance of themselves as is normal in the UK.

Lovely place to escape to when you want to get away from the madness of Istanbul.
It has a lot of derelict but gorgeous buildings, a lot of history, beautiful mansions and buildings and is just a cute lil place to go for a walk or ride a bike. Many of the cafes, restaurants etc are by the seafront so a nice view with your raki and fish.

It has scenic views and a somewhat beautiful nature. make sure to visit there in a warm weather so you can enjoy the beach, swimming, and sunbathing. I visited there in the beginning of October and it was getting cold so no one there went to the beach. I did a lot of walking around the island and through its nature and enjoyed the peaceful and calm atmosphere. There is no night life like what Istanbul has nor a lot of entertainment and activities to do, so you'll enjoy there if you're looking for some time far from your busy routine or crowded streets of big cities.

As a small island, it's possible to get around the whole place by bike in a couple of hours. There are a lot of beaches, but most of them require payment. It's a day trip, but if you are there for a couple of nights then you can visit more than one of the islands.

It is a beatiful island with great arhitecture and vibe, perfect for long walks and chill.
If you'd like to come here for the beach, it is not the best option. The few beaches available are expensive and they have no sand. The water is also very cold, but at least it is clean.
The accomodation on the island tends to be a bit pricy and not very confortable.
The local food is very good and people very friendly and helpful.
Locals don't speak english very well, hotel personell includes, so you need to make sure you have internet connection so you can better communicate with people.
