This hotel is a perfect location just beside the airport. Eventhough for some it seems like walking distance, I do not recommend this on arrival, especially if your flight is late and it is dark outside. Rather take one of the cabs as you may miss it as tge sign is facing the side not seen from the airport. Rooms are big and comfy with aircon working perfectly. Hot water was always available. Breakfast was simple, but sufficient and fresh. The highlight is definitelly the staff, that was really taking care and helping with our request. When the road to capital was closed due to bridge reconstruction, they even paid a motorbike to lead us the right way :)

Location right next to airport so very convenient for arrival. Common mini bus only costs 20 Dobras $1 so easy enough to get to town. Hosts are extremely nice and accommodating.

The place is perfectly clean. The people in reception were very helpful, although the frequent blackouts in Sao Tomé make their life rather complicated. A place close to the airport. Good breakfast despite of early time of our departure.

Very friendly receptionist. Fantastic location if you need to get to the airport. Large and clean room and a bathroom. Very good breakfast and excellent coffee, one of the best I had in a long time, strong, strong, strong👏👏👏. Thank you Praia Hotel for these big coffee cups.

I had a very comfortable stay. The room had air conditioning, the hotel uses solar panels which is great especially with the occasional energy cuts in São Tomé, and breakfast was included. It’s only a 5-minute walk to the beach and the grocery store is about 100 meters away, which was very convenient.

The space it is very peaceful, really good for people looking for rest.
The guest house has one of the most beautiful views of the island in which you can see the stunning bay, cabras island, airport (flights coming and leaving the island) and others.
The place it is very close to the best and biggest european supermarket in which you feel like you are in Europe as you can get everything from there. There is one restaurant 20 seconds from the front door, the neighbors are very simpatique, the people working and staying in the guest house are the most lovely I've ever met. In the mornings I was always offered by them plenty coconut, papayas, soursops and mangos which were planted in the garden.
I was picked up and dropped off from and to the airport at free cost, which was amazing. The owner any time I needed exchanged some euros and pounds, which was the highest rate that I was able to find in the island.

I truly loved my stay at the hotel. The staff was super friendly and helpful, despite the fact that I could not speak Portuguese. The owner has really thought through every detail of a tourist's need, especially when it is your first time, and was always available if I needed help with translation or a ride somewhere. The location is also convenient, close to the city center, a couple of restaurants, and the airport. It was definitely one of my highlights during my stay.

A wonderful place to explore.
A wonderful place to explore. Very much off the beaten path, where tourism has yet to flourish. This can present some challenges, but it's very much a place to get stuck in and explore at your own pace. Some of the most beautiful beaches in the world can be found here and all the challenges (poor roads, language barriers, lack of basic amenities) are worth overcoming to experience the nature at hand.
The people are friendly, the island's vibe is laid back and there is something for everyone here. What I will say is that a lot of research and planning is required for a lengthy stay in Sao Tome, it's not a place where you can get by on the fly, you need to be prepared and research everything that you're looking to do.

Sao Tome should be combined with a few days in Principe which we did not do. It is underdeveloped in tourist terms - fine for us though. The main attractions need a certain persistence given the state of the roads. Beware goats, dogs, pigs and motor cycles having a different view of how roads should be used. Mostly beware of children. On two occasions aggressive begging by children was excessive. We like to drive ourselves and hiring a driver would probably have deterred them. TAP is the only flight option from Europe. Our flight out did not have the planned aircraft and the substitute did not have the expected facilities and which required an added fuel stop.

Sao Tome island is incredible, even though the slowness of things here can get annoying. Sometime you can't get service even if you pay extra. Taxis are super expensive, so better rent a car or take a guided tour. Actually I strongly recommend to take a guided tour at least the first day. Most people don't speak English, just Portugese.
