I really love how affordable this hotel is and how you get good value for your money. But above all, I am particularly impressed by how El Hadji himself is sooooo kind and helpful. He helped me and my friend find our way everywhere and ensured that we didn't pay more than we should for anything. When I didn't like the first room, he was so kind to change it to another nice one and ensured that we had a great time. Good WiFi too. The gateman and the 'receptionist', Thierno, were so nice and supportive. I really had a great time at this hotel, and love how there is a laundry and store by the front. I wish, though, that they can clean the rooms daily without the need to pre-inform them or they could just keep the instruction card in the room. Also, if they could keep a bottle of water in the room, that could be a really nice gesture. Other than that, great experience! Don't expect the fanciest of things but you can be guaranteed of a good time.

Location was good.
Location was good. Aircon only in bedrooms, too hot when you get to the Residence. Rooms are nice and cool. Linen needs major upgrade. Bathrooms need mats and towels and they need basic cleaning to make sure they're hygenic. If you're on a shoe string budget and don't mind aesthetics then the residence can work, for me anything over 1 night would have been an overkill. Staff not too good with English, make sure you have basic French to communicate.

I have travelled a lot to many countries in Africa, Asia, Europe, etc. Dakar/Senegal is one of my favorite places to visit. I love the ambiance of the people. It's Africa not Europe, so if you love culture, people and good food Dakar is a good choice in West Africa.

There are so many places to visit; the islands, the monument, the beaches, the fast foods, etc. As a solo traveler, I was scared at first of the risk I took to visit these places alone, but I quickly realized how friendly the people of Dakar are. There are also many foreigners there and that was a relief.

I visited Goree Island, great experience.
