Very, very nice place in a dumpy (and bumpy) location right behind the airport, which while the location is a bumby ride, its super practical. Covered guarded parking included. Super roof terrace with pool and Sauna. Nice staff. Rooms were amazing. We had a whole appartement for yourself with 2 bedrooms 2 bathrooms, living room, kitchen - wow, really nice. When you eat in the restaurant you see right onto the runway. Great place. Will come back for sure.

But the area around our stay is quite safe and relaxing. We liked there is no supermarket or big building but wild nature and non-capitalism lifestyle. So keep in mind that you need to bring cash with you ,there is no place to pay with card and no ATM to withdraw money.
You need a car to get there for sure.

How you enjoy your stay will depend on your location and budget.
Fernando Zona Norte cerca Shopping Multiplaza is great location: Lots of restaurants, great Smart Fit Gym and plenty of shopping. I can totally recommend 'Hostel Taguato' for a beautiful stay in this area. The owner of Taguato also has another great Hotel in Recoleta, which is also close to shopping Multiplaza.
Fernando Zona Sur is a little more 'Picante' or 'Marginal' as they would say. It's fine during the day but at night take care. Also, crossing Avenida Defensores Del Chaco is dangerous day or night, so please be careful.
I can recommend 'Nueva Alborada' boarding house if you want budget B&B style accommodation in this area that is safe and secure. However you might find the dining options around there somewhat limited.
Just make sure your head is on a swivel when you are out at night in Fernando Zona sur.

A sprawling city that’s worth a day to explore. The old centre lacks any world class sights, but there’s enough to keep you interested. A lot of it was run down and being redeveloped and downright sketchy in places.
Best to stay outside the old town in one of the more modern areas that have eateries and bars. Use a hailing taxi service (Bolt or Uber). They are cheap.

I am planning to stay a few months here but after a week I can tell everyone that this city has a lot to offer, a lot of potential and I do recommend Asuncion . There is public transportation but I always used Bolt. that is like Uber, is safe, unexpensive and quick. There are no too many restaurants and cafeterias in the city center where I am staying, and for sure they need more supermarkets. Palm street is very nice specially during the weekend and holydays. All government buildings are in this area. It is a very old city and many buildings needs complete restauration. There is lot of policemen everywhere and they very polite and they help find any place you are looking for.

The people are nice and the food is good, but there’s really not much to see from a tourist perspective. I think parts of it had been destroyed as a result of wars. I did like the leafy streets in some sections of the city. Otherwise, the city is fairly non-descript.
