The resort is the perfect place to spend your last day before heading back to the airport or for close access to Ponta da San Lorenco. The facilities are really nice. My husband and I enjoyed the restaurant, tennis court, and pools immensely.
However, the hospitality we were shown was really what made this stay so incredible. I caught a cold while I was here and the front desk had tea sent to my room without us asking. They also asked me how I was feeling whenever they saw us, and really went above and beyond in every way.

The property was well equipped, very clean and comfortable. The ocean view from the balcony was amazing and a great spot for watching the sunrise in the mornings. The check in and out process was also straight forward and the owners were very responsive to all messages.

Great place to explore the East of the island , Machico is a relaxed version of Funchal. Good beach for swimming and good restaurants. The east, except Sam Lauranco, is little explorer and all the better for that. It is our favourite part of Madeira, much like the island was when we first came 40years ago. Walk the small! Alvarez with no other walkers in sight, bliss.

Machico resort is not for the night clubbing holiday maker, It was however for us a slow paced setting with a good selection of restaurants and supermarkets with walking routes for those who wish. The harbour offered boat trips, whale watching and surf lessons, the latter was enjoyed from the safety of a dry vantage point. Local bus into Funchal for 2-60 euro single was 50 mins away which opens up further opportunities for excursions and sight seeing like the red or yellow hop on hop off bus tours which operate from the promenade where the ticket is valid for 24 hours allowing to to spend time where the mood takes. Weather forecasting in resort will not take into account the drizzle from the mountains with can add a cooling break from the sunshine and occasional rain. Enjoy.

if you like being somewhere rural and out of the way and quiet then it is a good place to stay. there only appeared to be 3 staff on duty at any one time. probably the best massage in the spa i have had. the pool is small but adequate and we never found it busy. if you are expecting a nice view from your bedroom, you won;t get it and the weather is colder than down on the coast!!!!

You can make short bus or taxi trips to Machico and other nearby places and the Airport is about a 10 minute drive away.

A nice area to stay outside Funchal where I find it still preserves. We stayed in the best Modern Guesthouse, ate local foods in O’Gala and Massa Mia.
They have two beaches. The rocky area and the sand area.

2nd time we stayed here, first time the weather was great everywhere, this time as the hotel is up in the mountains the weather was worse at the hotel then on other location on the island
It's a great spot if you want to avoid crowded places and are there for the hiking experience

Very sweet, clean village with friendly people (but not in-your-face). Lots of bars and restaurants, reasonably priced. Lovely wine, good food and some nice boutiques too. Easy to get to Funchal on buses and there are also plenty of taxis. Its minutes from the airport and planes fly very low overhead but it is spectacular to see without being too noisy. Loved it.
