There is a good Chinese takeaway with 100 yards of the motel. I stayed in Sanson , but was attending a sporting event 25 minutes away in Rata on Saturday and Sunday. The motel was clean , quiet with comfortable beds and a good shower.

We booked in Halcombe so we could attend the Volleyball...
We booked in Halcombe so we could attend the Volleyball National Championships in Palmerston North and although it was just over 30 minutes away from the arena it was the only and closest accommodation available in our price range when we booked. Despite that I would rate it as quality accommodation and great value for money especially since breakfast (although a simple selection) is supplied. We had some very late nights due to game over runs but because we could come and go as we pleased this was not an issue. We were very happy with our stay as it was private, comfortable and served our purposes. The accommodation is situated on private property in the country but is easy to find even in the dark. We didn't have time on our trip to explore Halcombe or the surrounding towns of Fielding and Palmerston North but found the sights while traveling very characteristic of New Zealand country towns - loved it!

Feilding is a gorgeous country town.
Feilding is a gorgeous country town. Has a lot going for it. Centrally located. Has a great eatery called Rosebowl Bakery, amazing selection of eats, nice spacious cafe area and great staff. Reasonable prices too.

Good beach for walking on - but further than expected to get there
The takeaway right next door was OK. Food was OK but service was very disorganised with order mistakes and taking almost 2hrs (on a busy friday night) to get food.
The Cozzie club next door had good pub food, but also forgot one person's order (which they ended up giving us for free)

The location was central and close to many other places to visit. The aircon was very good. Good parking with easy access. Pleasant staff.
Good to have cafes, petrol station and takeaway shop just along the road.
The unit was very out dated. Shower not very good. Would have been ok for 1 night stay but really needs renovation/modernising. Only one small desk with an old uncomfortable chair beside it. Had a kitchen but no where to sit to eat meals other than on the bed or outside furniture and those chairs were uncomfortable, and not good if raining!
We bought ourselves some good mugs, a tea towel and a bedside clock while we were there.
Very difficult to sleep the first night due to traffic noise. We dreamed of double glazing...

Lovely old house with beautiful gardens,very homely with character.Very comfortable and perfectly adequate, not posh,which we love.The hosts were welcoming and accommodating and lovely to talk to.We had a great sleep in a comfy bed in the cheapest room.Our friend was welcome to visit ,we had lovely places to sit and catch up.

We were there because of the annual automotive swap meet. We have family living there. The town is pretty, easy to get around. We were recommended Aunty Jo Jo for fish and chips; very fresh and delicious.

Our stay was okay for one night, small one bedroom family room.
On arrival flies everywhere, rooms should be closed up until guests arrive.
Kitchen, Bathroom old out-dated
Dirty oven tray and some dirty plates in cupboard.
No facilities for guests apart from laundry with the basics
Felt it was overpriced given the above, age of motel etc...
Charging the same amount as a flash motel in any city.

Just passing through but stopped in town at the Scullys Shop to stock up. Seemed like a nice town - visited Mint Café and had a superb breakfast. Only negative was that traffic does not slow down going through Halcombe - crossing the road is a hazard.

quaint little place, clean and tidy town. Appears to be growing industrially faster than domestically. Was a business trip so not a lot of tourist-type activities were undertaken. Went past a couple of interesting-looking museums. next time maybe.
