This property sits in the middle of the vineyards. All within easy reach by car or taxi. It was tranquil and relaxing. We enjoyed the fantastic views with sundowners each evening sitting outside the cottage. The smell of the lavender added to the mood. Afterwards we lit the stove inside. Jason came with more logs and kindling in case we ran out. At a reasonable extra cost we ordered a charcuterie platter one evening. It was generous in size and delicious. Fresh eggs from their own hens were provided in the cottage along with milk, bread, butter/jam/marmalade. On leaving we needed a large taxi for all our luggage for the airport which Jason organised for us the night before we left.

This place is an absolute treasure! Breakfast was delicious, the hostess was lovely and accommodating, and the setting is idyllic! The property has beautiful gardens with fruit trees, walking paths, and plenty of green space. You could take wedding photos there! It is also in the heart of Malborough (wineries).

Unforgettable Vineyard Stay: Staying right in the middle of a working vineyard was truly special—one of the top memories from our four weeks in New Zealand. Out of all the places we will stay during our long trip through Ocenia and Asia, Walnut Block Cottages may have set the highest bar.
Spacious, Comfortable, and Stylish: The cottage was not only cozy and beautifully designed, but also offered plenty of room for luggage and clothing, which made settling in easy and comfortable.
Cozy Comforts & Thoughtful Touches: The heated bathroom floor was a standout luxury, especially on cooler mornings. Add to that the high-quality bed linens, a Nespresso machine, and a well-stocked kitchen perfect for cooking enthusiasts—it really felt like a home away from home.
Welcome Goodies: We really appreciated the thoughtful extras—breakfast provisions, chocolates, and a bottle of their own Sauvignon Blanc. And the voucher for a wine bottle was a lovely bonus.
Highly Recommended: This is one of those rare places we’d definitely recommend to others—and would absolutely love to return to someday.

My stay was cut short due to Covid =lockdown, however the 2 nights i spent here was great, would recommend this hotel to others. Very clean spacious and well located for vineyards. Opposite a café and shop area. 10 minutes drive to Blenheim or 7 to Renwick. Friendly locals and welcoming to solo travellers.

Blenheim is worth visiting! Cellar doors are endless.
Blenheim is worth visiting! Cellar doors are endless. Impromptu or pre-arranged private winery visits are a must! We selected Cloudy Bay Winery for a private tour, (which proved to be an amazing experience), and Clos Henri for a walk-in wine-tasting under the sun, overlooking… (what else?) vineyards everywhere! (It was magical)
Blenheim has great restaurants too: Arbour Restaurant and Scotch Wine Bar to name a few!

It’s close proximity to the wineries and highways to Picton and Nelson. Such an easy destination to get to from other cities.
I really enjoyed Picton and it’s gorgeous Harbour and most of the wineries have excellent food. My fsvourite The Fancy Cow and reasonably priced.

I wanted to extend my stay, but someone else was booked in straight after me.
If you want something different to the usual motel or hotel with your own space, picturesque rolling green hills overlooking a vast field of beautiful vineyards, sitting on the deck overlooking it all while you sip away on a Sav as you wait for a nice steak to sear on the BBQ provided for your enjoyment, then this is for you

Tuamarina is located 10 minutes from central Blenheim. We had a rental car but we also accessed local taxi services and a wine shuttle service who were more than happy to come pick us up from our location.

Enjoy the walk or bike ride along Taylor River.
Enjoy the walk or bike ride along Taylor River.
Parking is mostly fee based but not difficult. There are a lot of well reviewed eateries. Try Dulce in central Blenheim for a casual meal. Go to the wetlands at Grovetown lagoon. Pollard park is quite pretty.
It's all about the wineries but note that unlike in Australia, many NZ wineries charge for tastings.

Truth is I've lived here all my life.
Truth is I've lived here all my life. You have done an awesome job in restoring these apartments a solid 10 / 10 in my book. What a transformation from the old days. As for Blenheim it's self it's a nice place but a few too many grapes and pine trees along with rest homes lol
