Friendly Staff, easy relaxed friendly atmosphere within the hotel, nothing was a problem. The hotel was very clean and homely with great Christmas decorations !

Gamle Fengselet Kulturhotell has unique historic charm and modern facilities. I have stayed at other hotels at Stord, but the personal attention and service at this hotel sets it apart from other hotels on this island. Despite my short stay, I got to know the owners of the hotel, Asle and Hannah, who are both prepared to go that extra mile to make sure their guests are looked after and get the service they deserve. The room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable, with crisp and clean bedding. The bathroom was also spacious and it was well equipped, with classic but modern fittings. The breakfast, served in interesting "former prison" surroundings, was of good quality and plentiful, with a good choice of warm and cold dishes. The wi-fi was excellent too. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Stord, looking for a quiet but different stay in a clean and comfortable environment.

Amazing location, vibe, facilities and hosts. The best place we stayed in whole of Norway. The host gave us access to their row boat and fishing gear and some fresh fish for dinner! Perfectly situated by a river, waterfall and lake. Hiking trails everywhere. I could spend a week here.
