The room and bathroom were very spacious and clean and the beds were comfortable. Best feature was staying in the park and being just a few minutes walk from HQ and the cafe. We had some power issues on the second night and third day but it was dealt with expeditiously. We didn't use it but there is laundry service available.

Located in Mulu in the Sarawak region with Gunung Mulu National Park nearby, Helena Homestay provides accommodation with free private parking. The homestay features family rooms. This review is based on the situations in a remote place like Mulu. The stay was good. It's about 1-1.5 km from Mulu national park and airport, so it's in walkable location. The host Helena and Shania was supportive. The room had 3 single beds. Initially I thought it would be a dormitory type of stay. But they have multiple rooms. It is a budget homestay. They prepare dinner and lunch is you ask for. Prices are at par with Mulu park restaurant.

I would definitely recommend this wonderful homestay in Mulu! It was a warm welcome from James, who grew up in this remote place. Authentic doesn't get any more authentic, I think. He explained to us all the things you can do and what to bring for a perfect experience. With Brenda we had a wonderful tour of the large caves and she gives us all the information about the animals we saw along the way. In the evening they showed us a documentary on a big screen about the history of Mulu and the struggle between the locals and the palm oil industry. It was very interesting! Thank you James and Brenda for our stay and the nice experience in this remote place. We will always remember it! Translated with DeepL.com (free version)

Nestled amongst the natural and lush greenery of the rainforests near the border between Malaysia and Brunei, Mulu Marriott Resort is located on Melinau Paku River in Miri. - wonderful location - helpful staff with lots of smiles - delicious foods, particularly breakfast - comfortable beds - super clean room
The caves and the exits of the bats at 6.30pm. Not enough little shops around Mulu. The locals are most helpful and friendly especially the airport tuck shop. The check in staff ,customs, maswings crew are all fantastic.
Mulu is an out-of-this-world experience. The cave are stupendous and the surrounding nature is breathtaking. The walks and excursions in the park are very well organised with helpful and knowledgeable guides and arevvery moderately priced.
Caves are awesome and well maintained for tourists with out much disturbance for nature Always give priority to Wind and Clear water caves as this tour is depending on weather It’s a rain forest , overnight heavy rain may stop the tour for next day as tourists have to move by boat . keep a rain coat unless you like to get drenched. Be prepared to swim in clear water cave
river boat ride to the amazing caves. dont miss the bat flight. lots of walking in the mulu national park. office staff, guides are friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. mulu has only 300 houses. there is no town. so the only attraction is the mulu national park, mariott hotel and homestays, cafes ( which are opened occasionally) if you want adventure, time with nature , quiet, astounding sites of caves and sheer size...come to Mulu. oh yes attractive pricing
Great place to come for a jungle / caving experience. Only requires basic fitness and moderate mobility to visit most of the show features. More strenuous/ adventurous options also exist for those who are interested/ daring!
Each cave is different from another and rides to get to them on the long boats added interest and anticipation of what we would find. The Park is very organised with some guides offering more information than others. We are in our 60s, and were able to cover 3 cave excursions in the one and a half days we were there...unforgettable!
