The location is excellent if you are flying into/out of Zihuatanejo airport - a 3-minute walk from the hotel. The staff went the extra mile to make my stay comfortable. For example, as all the restaurants nearby were closed, they helped me order food for delivery. When the delivery did not arrive, they drove me to a local restaurant and waited to drive me back to the hotel.

The views and beach are outstanding. The rooms are fit for a king. Peace and quiet. Falling to sleep listening to waves was heaven. The pools are great. The staff were welcoming and friendly. The Casa Arcoiris is a magical place - not least thanks to its hosts, Humberto & Jesus, both of whom have the uncanny skill of turning a traveller's choice into a magnificent home-like experience.
I was given a stunning room with a private deck & kitchenette (a stone iguana curled up on the sink), and a view of the ocean. I could see the Pacific without lifting my head from the pillow - and when I worked in the late afternoons, I couldn't have asked for a more beautiful office, sunset and all. There was even outdoor lighting and an outdoor socket - perfect for writing & typing late into the night. Butterflies and birds by day, chirping geckos and cicadas at night.
The room is tastefully decorated (not overdone) in Mexican style, with two calavera Catrinas watching over those asleep from a cinnabar wall recess. The shower area floor is lined with stones, two starfish perched on a sand-coloured wall.
The room has everything one can ask for, refrigerator & hotplate to fast WiFi and sliding glass doors and A/C for the night.
The property has a rooftop pool for communal use, with further gorgeous views of the bay - and of the hills on the other side, if you manage to get your eyes off the sparkling waters :)
Breakfast was also a dream, with a different hot local dish daily, your diet restrictions taken care of.
Jesus is a splendid cook.
It's a 10 to 15 minute walk to the beach; this also means you are close to the ocean while well away from nighttime beach party noise. The chacalacas are the noisiest creatures around :)
It's a gem - I can't wait to go back. Should have booked a longer stay.

Friendly and attentive staff. We loved the clean and comfortable room with kitchenette and balcony with beautiful view of gardens. Grounds, pool and tropical gardens were meticulously kept and were a perfect place for a relaxing afternoon, or evening swim.

It's a small, quiet place. All people we met were very friendly.
Pretty basic stores to buy food. Mostly just snacks for sale.
It's a beautiful place, but a lot of areas are covered with garbage and broken down houses.
It seems a peaceful place. But we didn't see a policeman the whole time. We were told there is no municipal government there, everybody does essentially what they want (i.e. nobody bothers with permits for building, etc.) One long-term resident called it the "wild west." But that's why they liked it.

Zihua is a real Mexican town that us white people have invaded. I am sure they are just as happy amongst themselves, but we pay their utilities. If you want a glitzy hotel, go up to Ixtapa or Cabo. If you have the fortitude, Zihua has more than just tacos and salsa.

Ixtapa is obviously focused on the tourist money. Taxi service is good, but bus schedules are sketchy. If you come to go fishing, you can take a taxi to the Zihuantanejo harbor for 150 pesos. I recommend finding a good taxi driver, as we did, and get his card and use the same driver for all your travel needs. Ixtapa has limited shopping for groceries, but Zihuantanejo has a Sams club and larger grocery stores. The Delfiniti Swim with Dolphins venue has gone downhill and is very expensive. There is limited beach access, but the large hotels now claim their beaches as private.
Dining is costly so come prepared! Be prepared for hot temps with lots of humidity! The tourist trap tours offered are also costly.

This was my first time visiting Ixtapa.
This was my first time visiting Ixtapa.
It is a beautiful tropical area. I felt very safe. Easy to get around in. Beautiful walkways, and bicycle paths. Driving around is very easy. I will be making this a permanent destination. There's plenty of fun and interesting things to do for the whole family!

Welcoming, friendly, happy supportive community of people-locals, artists, fishermen, shop and restaurant owners, expats. Excellent clean beaches, especially La Madera uncrowded and delicious restaurants, especially on the beaches. Wonderful shopping celebrating the creativity and the diversity of the artistic products produced by the local Mexican people. Walkable. Safe. Shared shuttle & taxi available for longer distances. Drinking water is filtered. Yummy local food. And the sunsets breathtaking, spiritually meditative. Did we find paradise?😎♥️

Consistent hot day or night. Easy and safe to get around. Lots of resorts to pick from. Beaches are clean and no seaweed. Zihuatanejo is a short cab ride away to visit and shop in. Tons to great restaurants near Miramar Beach Zihuatanejo. El Vado is an awesome little boutique restaurant highly recommend. Food is priced right and is excellent!
