Location is great - super close to the airport. The host is very kind and waited for us till we arrived at 10-11pm. The room was very comfortable and shared bathroom too, the whole place was very clean. The host ordered a taxi for us in advance which made our trip hassle free.

Wonderful people and amazing food.
Wonderful people and amazing food. Walking around Oaxaca and the ease of driving out of town to interesting locations really made for a wonderful trip. Bonus on the Carrera Pan Americana race coming through on stage one of the race. The evening show with the cars and driving crews was an unexpected bonus held surrounding the historic downtown cathedral. Another unexpected bonus was finding out about the Octoberfest in Oaxaca. A wonderful gathering/party hosted by the various craft breweries in Oaxaca. We had a great time.
I can't say enough about the wonderful food and the excellent, friendly service given us. If you've never had Mole, I especially liked the Mole Negro!
I can safely say, I'll be back!

We stayed at a the Huayapam Yuu Lodge on the edge of the village, exceptional. An extraodinary setting with mountain views, gracious and helpful hosts, a real sense of tradition and authenticity, wonderful food, plants, hummingbirds -- it was a restful retreat and jumping off place for many fantastic day trips in the region, and just a taxi ride away to Oaxaca city. In future we'd like to explore the eco-park near town and eat at the XHEN Cocina de Humo Contemporánea restaurant, as well as take more time to explore the town and maybe catch the Easter procession (we heard plenty of practice fireworks and music in the distance). The Lodge was amazing!

It was quiet and there were many sitting areas on the grounds / pool area. I could easily walk around the village without having to rent a taxi though they certainly would have called me for one. The room was beautiful. I was there for a week while taking Spanish classes in the nearby school.

The cultural aspects, including all the artisans and murals, and the food were the best part of the City. We ate out every night for two weeks and had no bad meals and several excellent ones. And they weren’t all Oaxacan food, although El Catedral, La Olla and Quince Letras, where we had excellent molé, all were. On Hidalgo there is a tiny Japanese restaurant that was great and there is also a very good Mediterranean restaurant with homemade pasta. We walked everywhere because Cómala and the house we rented were all walking distance to the main area of the city. When we took taxis, they were inexpensive (80 pesos).
