A beautiful cottage in the jungle!
My boyfriend and I stayed 8 nights at Roo Hills and enjoyed Trincomalee. The cottage is located in a quiet jungle environment. Every day we could see new animals: giant squirrels, monkeys, peacocks, lizards. It was really cool to see so much wildlife around, while having all the comforts of the modern world (they don’t come inside so nothing to be afraid of). We really loved waking up here to the sounds of birds.
The cottage has a spacious bathroom, AC, and outdoor kitchen. Outside there is a big garden with sea views. There is a cute porch where you can enjoy the garden. Somehow, there are not too many mosquitos in the evening so you can also really enjoy sitting outside and seeing the stars.
The host is what made our experience exceptional. He arranged a pick up for us from Kandy, and was very attentive. If we needed anything, it was arranged the same day. Also the caretaker is very friendly, and we were welcomed with a fresh watermelon juice. We could request a room clean and sheet change whenever we wanted.
We could explore Trincomalee easily by scooter, and especially our favorite Uppuveli beach. The host provided us with local recommendations, and we saw also some other beautiful beaches around.
If you are looking for a unique experience surrounded by nature this is perfect! The accommodations by the beaches can be more busy and noisy, and it’s very nice to have the privacy here.

My stay at Green Villa, Trincomalee, was really interesting that the accommodation was comfortable and very calm and quiet to have a sound sleep. Although the climate is little hot this villa location is full with vegetation to effect a acool surroundings. The management owners were also kind and their treatments were commendable. During the cool morning breeze they provided delicious tea free of charge. My next visit to Trincomalee, I will select Green Villa for my rest.

We had a very enjoyable and comfortable stay at Edwin Villa. Vinoth, Shiranee and her husband were so helpful with everything, from booking the villa to checking in/ out. The villa was very clean, spacious and fully self-contained with big bedrooms, good quality linen and towels, washing machine and fully equipped and kitchen. Shiranee and her husband had thought of every little detail to make our stay comforable at the villa.There was also secure parking for our vehicle. The location was central with easy access to Trinco main beach and a short drive to other beaches like Nilaveli and Marble Beach. We highly recommend Edwin Villa for a comfortable self-contained stay in Trinco. Many thanks for your hospitality Vinoth, Shiranee and family :-)

This location was absolutely beautiful.
This location was absolutely beautiful. There's lots to see and do and 3 nights wasn't enough to fully enjoy the setting. Yes you can spend time at the beach and go snorkeling, but you can also visit the Thiruskoneswaram temple and eat delicious food on Sarvodaya Road. We highly recommend Rice 'n' Curry Restaurant. As well as The White House for Accommodation and Rangan Snorkeling

I liked the small hotel we stayed in on the beach front (Mithra Paradise) and the semi-private beach. A real gem if you're looking for a quiet romantic place. Much better than the big faceless commercial hotels.
I would recomemmend the small guest houses in the whole of SL for this reason as the service is exceptional and they are usually family-run so they put a lot of love and effort into pleasing their guests.
No mosquitoes in July.
Avoid the dolphin watching 'chasing' tours. Loads of boats making a big noise and running over the dolphins. Poor animals. You only glimpse them for a few seconds and the boat ride is hell on your back.
Try the snorkelling instead.

Trincomalee is a beautiful beach town, the beaches are amazing, lots of cultural things to do if you want, as well as lots of relaxation. Some great restaurants on the beach and in the town. The only draw back is it takes quite along time to get to (depending on where you are coming from) but that is the same across most of Sri Lanka

We absolutely love this area, by far one of the best places in Sri Lanka. After travelling around the island, we decided just to completely chill and not check out the other beaches. We will definitely go back again and check out a few of the other beaches along that coastline. Food is fantastic and the people are very friendly! When we read up about the island, they said that this was the less developed area, but as far as I could see it was the same as most other places. Definitely has everything you need and one of the best places to completely unwind.

A much more peaceful beach holiday that at neighbouring Uppaveli, so if you want to get away from the crowds, it’s a perfect spot. The surrounding countryside looks beautiful too - I wish we’d have had more time to explore.
We ate at Sara’s fish restaurant, where the seafood kottu & prawn curry were delicious.
