A wonderful place with good staff.

This was by far the best stay we had in Sri Lanka! First of all, the location is beautiful. Away from all the crowds, this is a very unique and bit undiscovered part of Sri Lanka. But despite the quiet location, the area offers many things to do and the accessibility is very good. We traveled mainly by public transport and from Kandy there’re every hour direct buses (also with A/C) heading to Ampara. From Ampara it is easy to get a tuk tuk to the lodge. But also from the lodge they will help you with arranging transport where necessary (car/taxi/tuk tuk, etc.) and do everything they can to make sure you can travel save. And this is also what makes the Gal Oya Lake Club so special, they are super helpful. Nothing is too much for them and everything is negotiable. For example, when we were there, we’d like to climb the Monkey Mountain with a Vedda. Although this is not part of the “standard” excursions they offer, Dinesh did everything to make this possible for us. But also the area around the lodge is ideal for hiking and in the National park nearby you can make beautiful safaris! And even if you'd rather not go on excursions, there’re plenty things to do at the lodge. The massages they offer are definitely a must do. The massages you get there are absolutely not expensive and truly fantastic! In short, we stayed 3 nights in a glamping tent, but could easily have stayed longer. The staff does everything to make your stay fantastic and it’s a beautiful place to be!

My family (including teenage boys) and I had a wonderful stay here. The rooms were comfortable and clean. The hosts were incredibly friendly and welcoming and produced a delicious supper and breakfast for us. We were positively surprised by the beautiful setting - if I could post some photos on this site, I definitely would! The property is surrounded by beautiful palm trees, wonderful fruit trees around the back and amazing spices, as well as a luscious green paddy field, all of which the host kindly showed us. The property is opposite a very pretty river and not far from the Gal Oya lake safari start. Would definitely recommend!

this is a very cozy and beautiful house. The owners of this house are always ready to help. When you come here, be sure to visit the boat safari, the owners of the house will organize everything. The lake is very beautiful. The house is located next to the lake.

The food was exceptional. All delicious local food of very generous portions. Very close access to the national park. Easy for early morning boat tour.

A really friendly and generous host. Did our washing for free. Great large breakfast and he even sent us on our way the next day with a free packed lunch! Clean comfortable room, great value for money.

Owner was very friendly and the rooms were very clean and comfy.
