so nice to get out the city and be in nature! we were upgraded to the yurt which was very nice of the hosts but even the tent would have been good too! they offer free tubing (short walk to river through the woodland). you can borrow the bicycles and cycle to the bamboo village or the resort down the road. the horses are very sweet and they offer riding etc. the tents had electricity, lights and bug nets. the shower and toilet were better than many hostels ive visited! staff were very friendly and helpful and cooked some great food (best french fries weve had in SEA!) i wish we had stayed longer than 1 night...

Great breakfast with homemade bread and fresh produce from the on-site gardens, excellent coffee, very accomodating staff. Breakfast goes until 11am, so one can enjoy morning yoga or horse riding before their breakfast! We enjoyed very much the yoga classes which were held in an amazing, peaceful shala with river views. Our kids (7 and 9 years old) were able to run free on the property, play with animals, and water the crops in the garden; they took a package of 10 hours of poney riding classes which they thoroughly loved. We also enjoyed the outdoor cinema with popcorn, warm blankets and a standby waiter for drinks or food orders. Perfect getaway for couples or families, to reconnect with nature in a peaceful environment.

Khounphet Heritage House is a wonderful new guesthouse which has only been open for a couple of weeks.
The location is excellent, there are dozens of restaurants, small supermarkets, coffee shops etc within a 5 minute walk. You can be standing on the banks of the Mekong in 30 seconds.
The neighborhood is clean and quiet, and some of the most famous Buddhist temples and colonial buildings in town are within a couple of hundred meters.
The owner, Quynh is a wonderful hostess. Friendly and attentive, nothing is too much trouble. Perfect English. She even upgraded our room as it was a little quiet on the nights we were staying.
The rooms are immaculately clean and being a new guesthouse, the furniture and bedding is all brand new. Very comfortable.
We initially planned to stay for 3 nights, but ended up staying a total of 8. All in all a great stay, and thoroughly recommended.....don't be put off by the small number of reviews, as we *almost* were - I'm sure that will change over the coming weeks and months.

The city has numerous amenities that will make ones stay very enjoyable: great eating places, very easy to walk around, very safe, river dining/trips, adventure opportunities such as waterfalls, caves. The best part is the Mandalao Elephant Sanctuary, excellent experience interacting with the elephants in their natural habitat. Laos Buffalo Dairy, Luang Prabang Yoga, Big Brother Mouse House, numerous Massage options, and just relaxing!!

Loved the colonial charm of Luang Prabang and its chilled and relaxed atmosphere. Managed to visit the elephant sanctuary at Mandalao and would recommend as you go to the elephants in their environment and only observe.

We really enjoyed just walking around the old city.
We really enjoyed just walking around the old city. It's small and yet we still ate a different restaurant for every meal, had cocktails at sunset by the river several times, went to beautiful waterfalls, visited the buffalo dairy farm and went to several Wats.
Luang Prabang was not part of our original SE Asia tour but we ended up going and so happy we did.
Jungala Lounge bar for food/drinks on the Nam Khan River
360 Sunset for an inexpensive bottle of bubbles at sunset
Tangor Bistro, had amazing lentil hummus and chicken strips unlike any I've ever had
Tamarind is a teaching restaurant with excellent local food
Khaiphaen is also a teaching restaurant with amazing food for a great price.
Sena Steak House although we didn't have steak is good
Manola Cafe had good pizza
