We rented 701 and it was a true VIP experience. All the amenities you can imagine at a love hotel. Our suite had an outdoor bathtub, a sauna, and everything else was top notch and new. It really gets you into the mood....it's going to be really hard to beat this experience for us in the few more love hotels we are staying at in Shikoku. We booked this out of necessity as we had a late change of plans and all normal hotels were sold out or super expensive. We got VIP experience for a price of a cheap business hotel in Matsuyama.

Simple, but very cute, thought-through and cozy guesthouse. It has everything you could need and the neighborhood is a bit away from Dogo Onsen or the station but fantastic in its own right, and I would stay there again. Most importantly the staff was very friendly, accommodating and helpful, thank you very much!

The host and the property are the most wonderful! It was a comfortable accomodation with plenty of room to relax and spend time (you can even feed the koi in the ponds of the small gardens) The vibes are immaculate and the town of Mitsu itself very cute, also Matsuyama is easily accesible through 2 train stations in the vicinity

We loved the history/ architecture of the Suzuki residence, a traditional Japanese home with many original features (furniture, library, photos). The whole upper level is yours, consisting of 4 rooms, plus toilet, kitchenette and verandah that overlooks the inner garden. Area very quiet. Beds very comfortable, nice pillows! Miyu and Yoshi are amazing hosts, super friendly, helpful for local tips, they make the stay more memorable. Shower downstairs is small but clean and functional, can only be used when cafe closed. Cafe open from noon - 6pm, so available outside these hours, was no problem for us. I tried the Ohagi and pudding from cafe, both were delicious. We loved Mitsu- nice historic area with fantastic Izakayas with such friendly locals. You don’t get this experience in the city centre. Travelling into Matsuyama was easy, either via small boat crossing to Minatoyama station, or 15min walk from Mitsu station down Main Street also great). Also bus 56 heading south toward airport was convenient for us picking up hire car

Staff, location and cleanliness were 100%! Couldn't ask for more, had a great stay here and would definitely recommend it. Grateful for the discount to the super sento (bath) across the road too.

This is located quite close to the station, so the trek with the bags on a very hot day was quite manageable. As many of the busses and the tram pass by the Station, it is easy for those who want yo 5ake public transport to the castle or spa to do so.

I love that Japanese cities have their own identity.

I love that Japanese cities have their own identity. I wish I had stayed an extra day to explore more about Matsuyama and the mikan and to explore more areas of the city. I wanted to try mikan beer and i didn't get the chance :c

Matsuyama is a city with a lot to offer.

Matsuyama is a city with a lot to offer. From the stunning views from Matsuyama castle, to the history of Dogo Onsen. It has many hidden gems in the form of cafes, traditional craft and cultural experiences and is a good jumping off point to see the rest of Ehime/Shikoku.

The Best part about Matsuyama was where we stayed.

The Best part about Matsuyama was where we stayed. It was Ryokan Kominka Mitsuhama, and it was detailed by a true artist. You have 2 floors of space with the bedroom upstairs and a large living room downstairs. The living room is surrounded by 2 different mature and well lit Japanese gardens. One had many Koi swimming in the ponds. So lovely! It was in a quiet, low key neighborhood but just 2 blocks to the river and near a little working fisherman's bay. The boats were squid fisherman with lights strung on them because they fish at night with the lights to attract the squid. There were plenty of small local restaurants and bakeries. It was a respite from tourist crowds and off the beaten path.
