The hotel is located next to the Oyodo river which is great for running og walking along. We were welcomed by the friendly staff which made us very welcome. They had a number of written information sheets in English about the hotel and facilities which was great as our Japanese is limited and so was their English. The room was with tatami flooring and futon mattresses. The bathroom was a totally covered outdoor space which although in winter was great. It was chilly to start with but quickly warmed up when you either started the shower or began to fill the bath. The last being a wonderful wooden bath. There was free parking right by the hotel. Although the room was with no meal plan they provided toast and butter/jam for breakfast free of charge together with the complimentary coffee/tea. I would definitely stay at Yurakuan Miyazaki if I came back to town.

The hotel is just next to the train station which is super convenient. It is the best JR hotel that I've stayed so far. The room is big and spacious. It is pretty new looking bright and clean. Couldn't ask for anything more. Execellent!

Miyazaki is incredible.
Miyazaki is incredible. The people are friendly and kind. The scenery is breathtaking. The food is amazing. I recommend the local foods like chicken nanban and jidori, which you can get at most restaurants and izakayas. There's also a lot of citrus themed snacks and drinks, as hyuganatsu is a popular fruit. Miyazaki is also famous for beef and mango. It's also a great place for people who like history and legends. Many of the shrines are very old. There are many "power spots" related to the Shinto legends and gods. There are mountains, beaches, rivers, shrines, museums, cafes - all kinds of places to visit. I highly recommend visiting Miyazaki if you can. Regarding transportation, it is one of those places where renting a car is ideal. It can be a little difficult to travel around without a car here. It can be done, but if you don't have a lot of time to spend on public transportation I would recommend getting a car. Additionally, Miyazaki is a popular place for motorcycles, especially in the countryside on the winding mountain roads. Overall, Miyazaki is a great place to visit!

We were there in June which is rainy / off season. We came to surf but the swell was low and it rained two of three days. The town has potential but is overall run down. It’s like it is stuck in the 1980s and no one has been maintain g or keeping it updated .

One of the slightly less developed parts of Kyushu - a little touristy without being too busy. The locals are very friendly and the beach is perfect for surfing and chilling out. In Aoshima try Upper Yard burgers, Sanbarco fusion food and Aoshima Coffee. Also, don't miss Obi Castle town. Obi is a very well preserved Edo era samurai town built by the former elites who ruled Miyazaki.

It is a nice place just to do nothing but it is not that beautiful. The resort we stayed at had absolutely nothing near or around it and the shuttle bus service was not consistent or frequent. To go to the gorge took 4 hours by bus, train and bus and walking. I would probably choose another beautiful place or island as a preference now I know this.

Due to heavy rain and typhoon,we couldn't visit all the planned places.We visited Aoshima island 🏝️,a nice scenery.but better to go morning or in evening because too sunny during noon.but better to rent a car to visit more places in few days.
