A good location for a relaxing stay in Vopnafjörður, Ásbrandsstadir Cottages is a holiday home surrounded by views of the lake. Owner is very nice and helpful, due to the weather problem, we arrived in very late, he wait us until 10:30pm. Also owner have message us the information before we heading there. The location is very good for holiday and see aurora, but it is quite far from the city, so well prepare food before you go.

Húsey Hostel & Horsefarm features accommodation 55 km from Egilsstadir. The hostel has family rooms. At the hostel the rooms include a shared bathroom with a shower. such a lovely place! yes, you need a 50 kms ride from Egillsstadir and 25 are on a gravel road, but when you arrive there you just forget about it! A farm literally lost in the middle of nowhere, where the only noises you will hear are from the birds or other animals. We also got a warm and almost sunny weather, along with the midnight sun (or twilight) so the atmosphere was just perfect. The hostel itself is lovely too, the rooms are really nice , everything is quite functional (kitchen WC showers etc) . One of the best hostels I have ever been. If you have a chance (we had not, unfortunately) to stay more than a night, you can enjoy some activities there . So don't miss this unique place

Cottage in the middle of nowhere, nice connection to nature all around, peace and quiet (apart from the elements, mainly wind). Extremely good views and good chances to see the northern lights when the sky is clear! Well equipped, quite clean but a bit older in terms of furniture. Very nicely decorated though, cozy and very warm inside. Hot tubs are the icing on the cake! Perfect getaway from touristy locations on iceland.

Such a cute little cabin and felt more spacious than the photos looked! We saw the northern lights going outside to round the back and looking north, and the owner was very sweet and attentive going out of her way to help our comfort and bring some extra pillows as we struggle to sleep with only one so that was very kind and it was very windy, it was very snowy around but the roads were manageable with 4x4 and lovely views around, good shower good firm beds, nice bedding, great mini fridge and freezer option good oven/ hob, kitchen was good with lots of utensils to use, very warm and cosy and peaceful and private, we liked having a tv, it has smart access too, WiFi was great, the supermarket closes at 7pm bear this in mind as we didn’t 😅

We can't say enough about the cottage. We stayed for 4 nights, but would love to have stayed longer. It was so peaceful and quiet with a stunning view. The cabin itself was spacious compared to the many other cabins we have stayed in, and it was meticulously clean. The kitchen had everything we needed, including a grill that was easy to use. The beds were comfortable, and the bedroom had blackout shades, which are important during the summer months. Our host was very communicative and helpful. We'd absolutely stay here again.
