The auto drivers who operate near the MGR bus stand and at all locations were very rude and ruthless, they don't care about the visitors coming to their town from different states, all they bother is to dominate, dictate and make quick money. Very close by to where we stayed, we found the garbage was stinking and some were using for LOO in the open, some were found urinating .. overall the city lacks basic amenities and administrative issues needs top most attention.
Places like ARULMIGU KALLAZHAGAR SUNDARARAJA PERUMAL TEMPLE, Palamudizholai, Tiruparankundran are great places to visit. Food is good at Bhagwati Mohan's Bhojanalaya, Modern Restaurant for Tiffin and Temple City are recommended. You will need about 3-4 days to explore all these places with adequate time at your disposal.

We visited several times before five years.
We visited several times before five years. Now moderate chances are feeled. But it is Nice. It was a very short visit nothing more to say. Only night we went Sabarees restarent and it was great. We visited all temples at Madurai, Tiruparamkunram and Algar Malai with Pazhamuthisolai.

Madurai has a lot of places to visit so you need to schedule enough time - may be at least three to four days to do justice.
City has changed a lot during the last five to ten years - traffic is very chaotic especially with narrow roads and the phenomenal increase in two wheeler riders. There is no direction from the railway station. There is infrastructure and development work going on at the main entrance for a long time now so some better direction is needed for people who are visiting for the first time.
