Hotels near Wamena Airport (WMX), Wamena

Rooms are clean, food is not bad, staff are helpful and will recommend good guides to Baliem trekking that so not charge you a fortune. Consider that if you book through agencies before arriving in Wamena, you get the same guides but at extortionate prices (maybe it's unavoidable if you visit during the festival...). Overall, if you are here for trekking , I suggest you stay at the hotel, despite the negatives below. Wamena is not a luxury retreat, so I doubt other places will be that better and bug free (you are in the middle of the jungle after all)

Very good, clean and well situated hostel. Owners are super friendly and speak good english. Rooms and the rest are clean, beds comfortable. Washing mashine is helpful to use after long treking in the mountains. The owners are indonesian couple. We have wath the movie at the evening and in another we had a nice talk about local culture and places worth to see. If I will be there again then for sure will stay in the same hostel!
