We really enjoyed our stay. The hosts were available and on hand to answer questions. Lots of fun to be had with all the games at the property and loved the quirk of the bus!

Very calm and nice litle town, close to nature as to the major hubs. Locals were particularly kind and friendly (though it is not a small village at all).
Definitely recommended for seniors or families travelling with kids and/or dogs.

Awful.
Awful. You can’t control your own heating and have to ask….then they don’t respond. I have never come across this anywhere in my life.
Church bells ring in the hour all night….it is very near the bedroom and will wake you up every hour
Dirty towels and poor responses from the hosts
Not luxury in any way
I would avoid if you want a relaxing place to stay

CHarming and quaint village near Tackley, the village I grew up in. The walk to Tackley past the canal and river is lovely and barely changed in 50 years. The village pub "The Oxford Arms" does a couple of decent real ales and nice food.

An attractive small town, right next door to Blenheim Palace and near to Oxford: an excellent base for exploring the area more generally. The town has lots of places to eat and drink, and some useful shops, including a co-op in the centre of town. Prices aren't cheap, but quality is good. Parking can be a bit of a problem at busy periods, but we managed OK.

Kidlington is a residential area just outside Oxford, but the bus service is amazing, and Oxford Parkway is a short bus ride (or even a walk if you less old and decrepit than us). We found it cheap and easy to travel to Oxford City Centre and to Abingdon by public transport.
There are nice pubs and restaurants in Kidlington and we were able to buy nice food to cook from the Co-op.

If you are wanting to stay in a village close to, but not actually in Oxford, then consider Cassington. Though small, Cassington has the rural village outlook but is just a few miles away from Oxford. The Park & Ride is 4 miles away; also the train station at Oxford Parkway for day getaways to London by rail. There are two pubs in Cassington - the Red Lion and Chequers. The 20 mph speed limit in the village make it safe for strolling and dog walking. A great base for access to Blenheim Palace and many Oxfordshire walks.

Parking can be challenging; the free car park allows only 12 hours out of every 24hrs. Paid parking has max stay of 4 hours so there may be the need to move your car frequently if you're not going out during the day. Lots of pubs and hotels are dog-friendly but there aren't many places to take a dog for a walk. There isn't a lot of grass around unless you want to pay £31 to walk the dog at Blenheim Palace.
Woodstock is however a very pretty town with lots of places to eat and drink. Probably better if you don't have a dog or a car though.
