Great restaurants, pubs and cafes and made to feel welcome at them all. Particularly the MacRaj Indian Restaurant and Harbour Lights cafe. Great walks at both West and East beaches as well as the Riverside (not really suitable for those with mobility issues). Peaceful place with local people that actually talk to you.
Spent many happy trips to Lossiemouth and hopefully many more.

Beautiful place to visit and the locals were just lovely. The shop, Goodman Sands Cafe (dog-friendly) and The Chippy were ideal and had the friendliest staff. Would definitely recommend. Would love to go back and enjoy some of the beautiful walks we didn't get to explore because of the weather.

The hotel was excellent lovely accommodation, delicious meals. The staff couldn't do enough for us. My husband played golf in Lossiemouth at the Moray Golf Club it was a fabulous course. What a lovely experience. We then visited the famous whisky shop in Elgin and purchased a lovely bottle to take home to the UK.

Depends what you want for a holiday. We like peace and quiet.
Burghead only has one shop and it is adequate. Hopeman, (2 miles away), has a nice chip shop and we could recommended it.
Propertyhad every cooking facility you would have at home, so no need to eat out unless you want to.
Plenty little places round and about to see and if you want bigger stores, Elgin is only 7 miles away.

Nice little town, would recommend wisiting Harbour Lights for breakfast/brunch/lunch, great service, great food.
Less keen on Firth Hotel & Restaurant, food was generally OK, though the chips were pretty awful, service was poor, wouldn't go back

I have stayed in Hopeman many times before and rate it as one of my favourite places in the world. It is peaceful but not isolated. The beaches and sea are beautiful both in the village and beyond. We have seen dolphins in the sea several times and enjoyed the amazing sunsets.
There are probably just the right amount of facilities for visitors: general store for essentials, cafe, couple of ice cream shops, gift shop, couple of pubs, play park along with beaches and harbour. There are some beautiful old houses and nice planting throughout the village.
We have stayed at the caravan park previously, although tended to stay in houses once the children got older. I have mixed feelings about how the caravan park has been extended in the past few years. It does dominate the view now from West beach and it is busier on the beaches, with more people staying. I can imagine the more frequent caravans/campervans up harbour street are a source of annoyance to the locals. However we did visit the Bootleg Bothy for a lovely al fresco meal and it was a nice change to be able to enjoy a cold beer with a sea view.
Our favourite places to visit in the area:
Lossiemouth
Culbin Forest
Findhorn
Cove Bay
Burghead
On the whole I still love Hopeman as much as I did and feel relaxed and invigorated after a week there. However I am secretly hoping that more people go back to their foreign holidays soon so that I can have a bit more peace and quiet on the beach.

For us the most interesting part is Elgin Cathedral, which is cared for by Historic Scotland. Although it is a partial ruin, there are interiors you can visit and even climb to the top of the two towers. This can be a bit scary because the stone spiral staircases are very narrow and worn, though there are rope grips on the walls. There are very well presented exhibits which are nicely described, illustrating how the building was constructed and decorated - and advantage when there are actual stone components resulting from the partial destruction!
Sadly, the centre of Elgin looks rather run down as a result of nearby large supermarkets, as has happened with other towns. We were surprised about how much traffic there was within the central area.
Compared with smaller Nairn to the west, we felt that the town could sell itself better. However we recommend visiting the Library which has very helpful staff who can provide town maps and recommend things to do and places to visit. Usefully there are clean toilets and a cafe available to the public in the Library.
For those without a car, there is an hourly train service to Inverness which gives easy access to Forres and Nairn. We have yet to investigate local bus services, which locals seemed to feel were a bit sparse. Someone recommended Lossiemouth as a port well worth visiting and we fully intend to resturn to this area.

Lovely old village with an extensive sandy beach, and massive forest, on its doorstep. Very dog friendly area and plenty of pooches about. Couple of shops and a Chinese takeaway in the village but Elgin easily accessible for mainstream stores etc. There is also a small restaurant but not visited.

Lossiemouth has fantastic beaches and cliff walks. Harbour Lights cafe great for lunches and coffees, Catch 79 restaurant is excellent if more expensive but worth it, booking essential. It’s always wise to check opening times of places if you’re going out of the summer season, even the Deli and bakers as they’re not open all the time.

The hotel was very nice and comfortable. The staff were helpful and welcoming and the food, both dinner and breakfast, was excellent. The views from our room were very nice over the golf course and out to sea. The fly past from the jets in and out of RAF Lossiemouth were an added bonus. Would definitely stay here again.
Well equipped apartment.

This was absolutely fantastic, we only stayed for 1 night but wished we more time to enjoy it, Jo was very welcoming and even left us a little welcome pack. The place itself is a very modern apartment and very spacious, it has all the amenities you need for your stay. The added bonus of fighter jets taking off from RAF Lossiemouth was amazing as who doesn't love a fighter jet.
